Well this isn't very cool.....
So I was on the way home yesterday just enjoying this ridiculously nice weather my area has been having when some lady decided she couldn't see my truck or her yield sign and pulled out right in front of me. I hit her going about 35mph but the way we connected made things not go too well.
She spun me around and as she was spinning around from the original hit, we hit again on the rear. That caused me to spin yet again doing a complete 180 by the time the truck stopped. Although, while I was doing my little spin, I was just waiting for the truck to tip over. There were tire marks on the asphalt but it showed them in little spurts; showing that the truck was hopping while it was in the spin. All I can say is yesterday proved to me that I will always trade up crappy mileage for safety. If I were in a little car like her's, I probably would have had a trip in an ambulence; just like she did. Although I am pretty sore on my left side, I think I came out alright. I was walking around seconds after it happened and felt just fine. I can't believe how well my truck did with the kind of impact it sustained. Yes, the truck is pretty jacked up but all things considered, it did pretty well; especially comparing it to her car. Luckily, the woman seemed to be okay as well; she cut her head but was at least able to walk herself into the ambulence. What makes things even more on the negative was I was going to get an 09 or a loaded out left-over 08 this Saturday. All day on Thursday I was in talks with two of the local Ford dealers around here. I guess that's not gonna happen anymore. Don't know what they're gonna do with the truck. It has 61k miles on it and looks pretty messed up. I didn't get a pic behind the wheel but something under there snapped. I'm dumb when it comes to the mechanics of these things but the tow guy had to use the dollies on the front wheels and confirmed it didn't look too good under there. Plus the damn thing wouldn't start for them either. Good times! Well, sorry for the book but figured I'd share...... http://i267.photobucket.com/albums/i...15538959_0.jpg http://i267.photobucket.com/albums/i...15523516_0.jpg http://i267.photobucket.com/albums/i...15531008_0.jpg http://i267.photobucket.com/albums/i...15522452_0.jpg http://i267.photobucket.com/albums/i...15534417_0.jpg http://i267.photobucket.com/albums/i...15527109_0.jpg http://i267.photobucket.com/albums/i...15532272_0.jpg http://i267.photobucket.com/albums/i...15513674_0.jpg http://i267.photobucket.com/albums/i...15535836_0.jpg http://i267.photobucket.com/albums/i...15524304_0.jpg http://i267.photobucket.com/albums/i...15529998_0.jpg |

Wow sounds pretty crazy, someone up there must like you.

It is not that bad. They sure won't total it. It will be fixed up in a few weeks and you can trade it in.. all before carfax will have it posted. You will come out fine on the trade. Glad everyone was ok...

Glad your ok! My wife and I both (by ourselves, seperate accidents) have been in accidents with my truck where the truck had EVERY reason in the world to roll and didn't. Both caused by boneheads not paying attention. The truck returned the favor by totaling the Crown Vic and the Honda CSR:thumbsup:

Dexx man I hate this for you bro, where you been at anyway crappy way to get back in touch.
From experience with em Id say shes totaled brother. From just a look at the exterior damage looks like it might a need a complete bed replacement. She got more than a new bedside welded on would do, then if anything snapped only worse. I hope everything works out for you bud, keep us in formed on the situation and damn right I agree with givin up alil MPG for the safety keeps friends and familys together longer. |
Glad you got out safely. There seems to be a lot of members here involved in accidents lately:beers:

Glad your alright and sorry about your truck.

It doesn't look to bad but I with Strike on the out come of your truck, it needs a lot so they will probably total it. Glad you're ok! That's all that matters anyway. You have to admit that her Taurus doesn't too bad either. WAY TO GO FORD!!

I got into an accident like 2 weeks ago by some jerk off lady in a street sweeper. She was driving a Elgin Pelican street sweeper that was brand new. She even said that she it handled different (obviously) from the older sweeper. But that shouldn't let her off the hook...
The more I think about it, I wonder if she even had any training on operating the new sweeper... What the worst part about it was that I filed an accident report saying it was between 1500-2500 dollars in damage, and a friend of mine who has a friend who does paintless dent removal fixed it for free along with some other dings I had. The only cost is going to be my bumper, and I am doing a chrome swap so it's only going to cost me like $200 for a new rear bumper! So I gotta call the DMV and inform them... But yeah, can't believe how well these trucks are made... :) |
Did her airbag deploying cause all that damage to the windshiled? seems like that could cause some serious problems...

Exactly my thoughts. It also crossed my mind that (all?) the other people involved were women. Also seems they are the ones at fault.... Glad you're okay. I agree completely about the safety factor--I always feel safer driving my truck than a smaller car. Insurance should cover you since you say she didn't yield. You'll be in that '09 in no time! |
