Thumbs down ford problems

My first post, so be patient:

I'm a long-time ford truck fan, but i've had so many problems with my 99 f-150, that i'm running out of patience. Since I bought the truck in July of 99, the GEM module had to be replaced, it has trouble starting sometimes, the transmission had to be completely replaced, the spare tire cable broke, and now the cadillated(?) converter had to be replaced. It also has a door crack. All of this in 1 year's time and under 30,000 miles. Did i just happen to get a bad truck off of the lot or has anyone else had this many probs with theirs?

Cool

Sounds like you got a lemon. As for the door crack, just about 75% of every 97-99 has one. Just one of those things.....I still love my F150, 60K miles and runnin strong.

Fgirl14-
I am glad to see that I am not alone with truck problems on a 99 F150.
I have had the head gaskets replaced, a new engine, new transmission, #3 & #4 coil and plug go bad, door cracks, roof crack, rusty tailgate, plus some other things. Just thought that I would share that you are not the only one. I sent my thru the Dispute Board that Ford has, and they denied my claim to get the truck bought back....Really angry with Ford now.

I had to replace the Pitman Arm once, and then I drove it 40,000 more miles until today. The odometer is sitting at 70,150

Good Luck!

To date I've had the limited slip clutches replaced, two coil-over-plugs replaced, transmission rebuilt, and torsion bar bracket bolts replaced, all covered under warranty. The LS, tranny, and bolts were probably caused by my off-roading, but really shouldn't be the reason. I have to tell you guys, I'm starting to learn more about the quality of products and workmanship that goes into the new vehicles right from the manufacturer, and it isn't good. And if you think it just Ford, your sodly mistaken! A good friend of mine works at a Ford dealer, and tells me stories that would make you cringe! This is also an SVT dealer! As for servicing, some of the problems come from the fact that the mechanics are flat rate, meaning that they have the number of hours it should take to do a certain job, no more no less. If they get the job done before the listed time, it's extra money in there pocket, as long as they have work for the full day. But if they don't, then it's money out of there pocket, which effects quality, but professional mechanics don't sacrifice quality for time, because if they get a "call back", they have to do it for free. And alot of problems occur on the assembly line at the plant. Because of the mass production of vehicles, quality is again compremised for time. I think the manufacturer almost abuses the use of warranty, and figures if they miss something, it would be covered under warranty anyways. And warranty work for a mechanic is very demanding compared to retail, because the times are cut down even more! But again, if you think it's just Ford with all these problems, your just fooling yourself.
