How do you remove a company logo off a truck?

I need to remove a decal off of a company truck. It's been on for 5 years. The last one I did I used a heat gun and a plastic putty knife and it still was a major pita. Anybody know any tricks for easy removal?

Thanks in advance

Let it sit in sunlight for a while to heat the metal up. Then se the heat gun. Note: depending on color of truck, it's possible that there might be a difference in color because of sunlight causing the paint to fade over time. Hope it helps.

3M makes a woodgrain and sticker remover in a aerosol can that can be picked up at NAPA or any decent store that sells autobody supplies.

What method would be best for me to remove the lame 4x4 stickers on the back sides of my lariat?

Those will peel right off with a heat gun or hair dryer. Much easier than the commercial vinyl decals. After you take the lame 4x decals off the F1 try it on the lame decal on the back of the 7 :D

Let it sit in the sun and use a heatgun and your fingernail.

If that doesn't work, see if anyone has one of those "erasers" for decals (like an auto place) - they work wonders (used with a compressor)

If that doesn't work, spray a little easy off oven cleaner on and in 10 secs it should melt off. (If you do this, make sure to clean the area well afterwards - I usually clay bar then wax as that crap is harsh)

Just a few thoughts :coffee:

My suggestion is to try a hair dryer, not a heat gun. If not used very carefully a heat gun can burn the paint. A hair dryer and some plastic razor blades should allow you to remove the vinyl.

Whatever you do, don't use ANY oven cleaner on your paint.
