Who's toured the plant(s)?

I was curious who all's toured the plants, and which plant?

I am sure this has been over, but I can't find it on the GD section...

I have toured the Kansas City/claycomo plant...

Well, tell us how they were.

I've toured the CAT plant in Raleigh. After the inside tour they gave an outside demo of what each machine could do. Then they fed us!! Ok, it was a special tour set up for CAT employees but me and the family really enjoyed it. They even provided child-care for the under 12 year old kids.

When we lived in Washington, we toured the Ranier (spelling???) beer plant. Now there's a tour, I don't remember much of the plant but after the tour you get "beer"!!!

I've toured the Coors plant in Golden, CO. Free beer afterwards! Oh, are we talking about truck plants?

I guess, that would be important too. I was 12 when we toured Kc in 1992...So I remember only with pictures...My dad knows all about it, he worked there for 9 years...

I have toured the the Anheiser-Busch plant in St.Louis, and the John Deere plant, and several others that I can't think of right now...

Tina, Do you know where Washington Nc or even Bath, NC are? I have several relatives around there...

Raoul: Do you know where the ship building place is? I have a cousin who is in school there...My trucks were both made in Norfolk...Must be a Normal cab thing.

I've toured the Kenworth plant in Renton Washington. Heck, it's across the street from where I work.

Pastmaster: yes, I know where those places are, don't know anyone there though. Washington is commonly called "little washington" around here. My husband has had to make quite a few trips up that way to fix CAT's, he knows that area a lot better than I do!! would your relatives happen to own or rent CAT equipment???

Raoul Feb 8, 2000 09:29 AM

Pastmaster, I'm very familiar with,
Newport News Shipbuilding & Dry Dock Co.
I get caught in that traffic twice a day. They used to be the biggest employer in the State but, with cutbacks I heard they were passed by Food Lion last year.

Tina--My cousins don't, but my uncles/brother-in-law, owns a large construction company, over there, and he owns several, dirt equipment and etc...I'll try to find out the dealers name for you...

Raoul: interesting...He tells us about the enterprise, and etc etc....

We used to have a Yacht company out here, but they moved down south in Louisiana or somewhere...

Ken2 Feb 16, 2000 04:00 PM

I've toured the Oakville Plant, a couple of years ago. The brother-in -law works there, and all employees' families were invited for the tour. It was packed. We toured only a car assembly line, it went on for miles, and by the end, it was very boring. Too many people on the tour.

IKE Feb 16, 2000 10:16 PM

I toured Ford's Hazelwood, MO plant 3 times, first when they were only building Aerostars, then while both the minivan and Explorers were assembled there, and finally when they began producing Explorers exclusively. (I used to own an Explorer, so I was interested!)

BTW, The Bigfoot 4x4 shop is right across the street from the Ford plant. (St. Louis is the home of the Original monster truck, and it's, what else? A FORD!) You can view their garage, and they sell 4x4 parts there.

Been to the Anheuser Busch plants in St. Louis, MO (of course!) and Fort Collins, CO. Almost went to the Caterpillar plant in Lafayette, IN, but I had *too* many Anheuser Busch products the night before! https://www.f150online.com/f150board/smile.gif

Pastmaster-
The Newport News Shipbuilding Company and Norfolk Naval Station are two different places.
I get to give a tour of the power plant where I work on Friday and I get to tour it, myself, everyday (I toured the plant where I previously worked everyday, too). I've toured a sugar beet plant in Nebraska and a potato chip pant there, too. GM has a plant in SE OKC, but I've never toured it.

Pastmaster Feb 16, 2000 11:34 PM

Fordman: I knew they were different places. Doesn't ford have a plant in Tulsa? Where was the place in Nebraska you visited? Where again do you work? OG&E?
