Question I Just Don't Get It

What's the deal with all these people driving around with no hub caps? I swear i am seeing this more and more everyday, on all sort's of different cars old and new. It just looks so ridiculous and ugly to me, especially when i see a newer car with no hub caps and just the black steel underneath showing. I mean i'll admit, hub caps suck, but taking them off looks much much worse. Leave them on or buy custom wheels, one or the other.

Do people actually think this looks good? Is this some kind of new "trend"? Do people just want black wheels but are to cheap to buy custom wheels?

I just don't get it i guess, all i can think when i see this is WTF!!!
To each his own i guess...

Ok, to buy a new car and not care about it's appearence makes no sense. I can understand that it might not be at the top of the list of priorities, but you'd think it would at least be on that list somewhere when spending hard earned money on a vehicle (unless mommy or daddy buys it for you). Older vehicles i can understand not really caring about as much (still looks stupid). Anyways it's not like i'm talking about just one car i saw riding around, it's many cars, everyday. It's usually younger people blasting their (c)rap music (but not always), maybe it's some new hip hop thing.

But anyways it doesn't really matter, it's just one of those things that makes me go wtf, a little pet peeve if you will...

How's the weather turning up there in NH?
Could these vehicles have made the swap to their winter tires?

Maybe the nice stuff is stacked up in the garage til Spring.

The weathers still pretty nice up here, no snow yet. I really think this is just some kind of silly trend with the kids.

I figured i'd try to google this and see what i came up with. Found a few things, here is one of them......

Some people might be buying for a good dependable car that can just get them from point A to point B and don't really care about what type of rims it may have.

One probably breaks or something so they take them all off because driving around with just 3 or 2 just looks stupid.

Next time in see a car like this in a parking lot or something (which i'm sure will be soon, they are everywhere!), i'll just go up to the person and ask them, just out of curiosity...

This will add more HP to your car then a Type-R sticker all while shaving weight in the process. The ricers have done extensive testing on this stuff yall.

SouthernSkrew nailed it on the head!! More horse Power, combined with Type R stickers, it doubles the HP!

Seriously, tho, when I was into import racing, I had a ton of friends do it. I even did it for a day. its dumb as hell. its kinda like saying
"i spend money on other mods instead of wheels, and hubcaps are not cool enough, so I just took them off."

It really makes them think their car looks faster than those with rims because rims are heavier than steel wheels

My Favorite is Steelies in the front, and rims in the back, means "i drag race"

If it is a Chevy, then the Hub Caps are prone to just fall off by themselves... Seriously, we had a fleet of Chevy's and the only ones with complete hub cap sets were where the driver pulled one off another car in the lot. Of course it was usually one or two at a time per car, not four.

Maybe they got stolen, or the owners took them off so they wouldnt get stolen, or they took off thier nice chrome wheels, or they are dumb ricers who think its looks cool or they are trying to fool someone into thinking they have a race car, or maybe they got broke, or maybe the black wheels actually do look better than the hubcaps. Who knows, WHO CARES!!!
