But, not nearly as many times as McCain has said "my friends" in a speech

Best part on the letterman skit was letterman said 'uh' twice in the first 5 seconds before he introduced the skit that was making fun of Obama saying 'uh'.

i took a public speaking course and youd be surprised how many people say uh or um between thoughts. its like it just becomes a speech pattern that people dont even realize theyre doing. sometimes i catch myself doing it. ill know exactly what im talking about but a little nervous or ill be a little distracted and here comes the "uh's".

hell i had a psychology teacher that would always say "mkay". he knew what he was talking about but i guess it just came into his speech pattern.

I teach speech for a living. Those "uh's" and "um's" are called verbalized pauses.

I don't :beers: I took a class about public speaking...I think back in 6th grade. Started out having a hell of a time with the exercises and not saying "uh" or "um" but I can say now it is once in a blue moon I make that mistake now.

Kind of funny that a career politician couldn't grasp a concept/habit/taught behavior that is covered in Junior High...
