Yep - have barely driven it the last year or so but every now and then I’ll take it on a little run just to keep it exercised. I’ve been trying to drive the ‘05 Escape into the ground so I’ve been piling all of my business miles on that for the last year or so but the dang thing just keeps running like a top!

I usually take the Cavalier out for a run when I want to go for a little country drive but there’s a threat of rain in the forecast - I don’t drive my “babies” in the rain so the Cavalier comes in handy for that. It has also become the default loaner car for some of my wife’s single teacher friends when their vehicles are in the shop for one reason or another - I’m not a big fan of loaning out my vehicles to other people, but these girls are pretty responsible and if something “bad” happens I guess it’s only a ‘97 Cavalier, right......

I miss that aspect about having an "Extra" daily beater car. My house/driveway just starts feeling crowded with 4 cars and what ever random side job i get suckered into working on

Finally sold our cavalier. It still ran like a top with 191k miles but the last 2 summers the sun killed the car. All clear coat was gone! The dash was so brittle i was scared to touch it cause your finger or hand would go right through. Even got to where the ac vents were falling out cause the plastic was so brittle. Funny thing 4 years and 60k miles i put on it i only lost 150 bucks. Bought it for 1500 sold it for 1350. Did front brakes/rotors roughly 80 bucks/tires 300 bucks/plugs 30 bucks is all i was out on it.

High winds and heavy rain in Zebulon, NC, just east of Raleigh. Thankfully we still have power, for now. This is supposed to continue through Saturday. Lots of debris down in the yard. Sending prayers to those folks on the coast.

I had the serious case of the Mondays today. First thing this morning: I had a customer lock their keys in the car on the body shop service drive. Followed by me smashing my finger in the car door while trying to break into it, oh and same finger that I nearly cut to the bone yesterday

^ That’s like detailing three Mustangs....

That thing might be a real oddity some day if you hang onto it - heavy duty rigs like that are usually worked into the ground by their original owners. The way you use it could almost be considered “garage queen” treatment for that kind of a truck - one of your grandsons may already be planning for the day when you can no longer drive so they can take over “gramps” truck.....
