Transformers-

OK, it looks like I'm gonna have to break down, and buy my son the original series on DVD. I saw it once, I think on Amazon for $99.00.

Anyhoo, in the last few Transformers series, (Cybertron, Energon and now "The Animated Series") Optimus Prime has become a real wuss...

I mean, back in the day, he was a match for Megatron, and Megatron couldn't beat Prime without cheating in some way. Now, Optimus Prime is borderline cowardly, he unsure of himself, always second-guessing his decisions, not to mention being readily PIMPED by Megatron in one on one conflict.

I just have to wonder, if the people writing the new ones, ever watched the old ones. If they did, then they'd know Optimus was an old warrior, who was a match for Megatron not only in wit, but physically as well. I think meg's might have been a little bit tougher, as far as enduring punishment, but not as lop-sided as it's been portrayed lately. On the Animated series, (I really hoped it would be better) it actually got worse. He doesn't even have the commanding voice anymore- they seem to have Peter Cullen or Gary Chaalk (I can't tell their voice apart) announcing the show, but not doing the parts.

Heck, even in the Movie, Prime got Pimped by Megatron. After Optimus took the first guy's head off, I thought he wasn't gonna be BSing, but when he tangled with Megs, he was clearly out of his league.

I know- it's a cartoon- but, they're messing with memories now!

How are you gonna take Optimus Prime, and make him a candy-*** leader?

That'd be like having history rewritten to show that General Patton actually lead his men from the rear, rather than go into harms way himself.

You gotta lead by example, and if the new Prime is the example- sheesh...

PS: And, since when did Ultra Magnus outrank Optimus Prime?

Well I must say that Saturday I watched Transformers (new movie) for the first time and I was very impressed with the overall finish of that movie. I was a big Transformer's fan as a kid. The movie was seriously awesome with all the action packed scenes (I love my surround sound).

I disagree I think Prime is a tough SOB and the fight with Megatron was great. but you gota remember "Megatron is pretty much harbinger of death"

So, aside from Transformers- The question becomes-

Who's hotter- Megan Fox, or the girl in your sig?

Megan's definitely got the sexier face/lips, and that pose with the hood would give the Pope a woody.
But, the girl in the Ford shirt has that "Sexy Girl Next Door" thing going..
You know, the kind of allure that gets you to come look at her car when she's having trouble with it, and you go- even though you know you don't know an alternator from a distributor cap... That kind of thing.

So, who's hotter?

I'm gonna pick the Ford shirt girl.

Hersh I totally agree with you. I have the orginal DVD collection and its great. I sit with the boy and watch it and tell him "Now that was Optimus in my day"

Optimus had 10s on all his power rankings other than speed. Megatron 10s on all but speed and courage. The original OP was the man. The movie version was ok but the new cartoons I can't even watch.

When I told my boy the original Devestator was actually all the constructicons put together he said "No he is this tank". I had to bust out the original DVD. He liked my Devestator better.

Hersh, btw ....you are a geek.

The hell ?!?!?!?!?!

What does all of that mean that you just wrote? This is the kind of stuff that fathers and sons talk about these days?

Let me tell ya, back in my day my dad imparted wisdom to me about real stuff . . . stuff that mattered! I remember sitting with him and hear him tell he stuff like:

"Little Kobi, that there is Bugs Bunny. He always gets away from Elmer Fudd. You know why? Because he thinks fast. He's a smart *** too. You remember that boy!"

Which is why I am who I am to this day. Didn't have no whimpy confused machines who can't decided what they are.

Get a grip!

You kids today . . . .

Doubtful. The MALE lead in that movie might have caused the pope to go chubby, but not her.

No denial from me... Not to the "wear the Starfleet uniform" or "go to the conventions", level of geekiness- but a few notches down from there.

Hey, you let some of your geek show too- After all, you remember Megatron's and Prime's power-ratings, only a geek would know that. And, only a fellow geek would know what you were talking about!

At least we got hooked on the good stuff- not crap like, "Dragon Ball Z".

*****************************

BTW, I think my son would like the Transformers from the 80's better too.

We were watching cartoon network one day, and the Tom & Jerry (color) came on, that I used to watch in the 80's. I thought he'd get bored with it, since there was rarely any talking in them. But, he was crackign up...
Just like his daddy used to do!

Like Spike would say, "That's my boy!"

Bighersh,
I have always been impressed with your intuitive grasp of the socio-political spectrum and your insightful expression of thought. I can even understand your vigorous libido.

However, the Star Trek/Transformers affection is...weird.

When Vader does it, I think he's just yanking our chain.
