GF Needs a new car and I need your help picking one

The tranny just went in my girlfriends old car and now she needs something reliable to back and forth to work. As of now her commute is about 20 miles roundtrip but come May it could be 140 roundtrip if she moves. Now to the good stuff. I would like for her to get a new car and stopping deal with other ppls headaches so Im looking at small cars for her like the Ford Focus. What do you guys think of the new Focus? Can you guys recommend something similar to the Focus that you may think is reliable as well. She's not looking to shell out alot of pennies right now on something that she really doesnt want. She wants that Infiniti G37 but being fresh out of college that's out of her price range. Your help will be glady appreciated.

Im selling my old beater...looks like a perfect fit. Although it does have a rather large hole large enough to fit your whole arm into the truck (result of a drunk sawed-off shotgun blast.) Close to 300,000 miles, still gets 35mpg all day.
Ill take $400 OBO.

35MPG ? Is that with or without a load of wood?

Maybe he has a new engine that burns wood for fuel?

Back on topic, I am considering buying a Focus for my daughter. I would be interested in the 'out the door' cost for one these days.

If she wants a G37, I seriously doubt she will be happy with a Focus..Maybe a Mustang. I would suggest looking at a Civic coupe. Sporty and will give her good gas mileage. Same with a Scion TC, VW Beetle, Nissan Altima, Mitsubishi Eclipse, or VW Jetta. All decent chick cars.

Your right but their is nothing you can do when something is out of your price range at the moment. She hates the Civic. So I will look at the Scion and Altima. Can someone make a list of some cars that I can look at in that price range

my wife has a corolla and i really like it as far as fuel economy goes, and with a lil window tint, it doesn't look bad. If you want someting a lil more sportier, try the mazda 3. I think they look pretty good. I think my wifes payments are about 300 bucks a month, and that was with 0 down.

you could get something that she prolly doesn't like as much new, or something a lil more trendier used. But as far as 4 bangers go, I wuld get something new...

What do you guys think about the Altima Coupe. It goes for about 20,000 for the 4 cylinder. This is actually out of her range (Im guessing b/c i need to talk to her more) but Im pretty sure that the dealer can come down a little on that price.

Go to Edmunds.com. You can research new cars by class and then by price range.

With the 6 speed manual tranny it is a surprisingly peppy car to drive. My late girlfriend had one, the interior looks like it belongs in a much pricier car. Comfortable seats too.

Focus, nicest they've ever been is now, 2008. Especially the 2 door one. If not that, a Cobalt or Pontiac Pursuit or G5??? maybe, GM has nice small cars. Just don't get that gayassed Aveo by chevy, made in Korea garbage. Ford has F.A for small cars really anymore, but nice for what they do have. The Fusion comes loaded in the barest and cheapest version, standard steering redundant controls for radio and HVAC stuff. It's good to see the Focus as a kinda Escort ZX2 model, always liked that car.
