Bad eBay Experience

Recently I purchased Pace Setter long tube headers and a 3" off Road Pipe from a wholesaler on ebay .

The kit looked perfect for my 98 5.4L 4X4.

I purchased the kit and I received it UPS the following week.

The headers installed without a problem, but the 3" Off Road Pipe didn't look anything like the picture on his eBay advertisement . It didn't have O2 ports like the one in his picture, it also was missing the mid-pipe that was pictured and the dang thing didn't even fit - it came in contact with my transfer case.

I sent his Off Road Pipe back which was an extra $125 about 12 days ago and this guy simply refuses to refund the cash.

Giving me the run around - says he has to inspect it first? - Wish I had that option!!

So - Confirmation of delivery to him was last Thursday and NO refund yet.

I have reported this to Pay-pal and that's where I'm getting the run around , like he's trying to get out of it . I haven't left any feed back yet for him on eBay - If I leave bad feedback , I'm afraid I will forfeit my refund ..

Any Idea's ?

Sorry for the long post - never had a problem on eBay yet..

if you disputed thru paypal and if he is wrong they will refund your money and take it back from his account and flag him (enough flags you can get kicked off ebay and payapl)

Yea , I guess giving him a little more time won't hurt - it's just Bull!! My feed back is perfect where his is less - I hope that helps in determining . As far as proof , all I have is a confirmation of delivery on the return. There wasnt a tracking # because I sent it back regular mail .

Thanks for your reply. I'll keep disputing , but he has stopped replying thru the dispute process - so I guess I just wait now ..

Freakin bonehead..

That sucks! I have a really old TV and needed a DVD player that hooked up through the cable coax because thats all the TV had it was so old. Went to the local electronics store and after checking most of the displays I finally found a ugly DVD player with the proper hook up. Bought it & took it home to set it up and sure enough it was different than the display! No coax! So I went to take it back and because I didnt have a reciept they wouldnt refund my money or give me store credit, just a exchange for the same thing. Luckily I found a converter at radio shack.

Anyways I know this stuff sucks, and I hate when they use the wrong pictures to sell items on E bay. You know what they say a picture is worth a thousand words, hope he does the right thing and refunds your cash.

When disputing via paypal, that is an option, 'significantly different than pictured and/or described'.

I would have disputed once received and gone from there but it is still good that you returned them. That shows that you attempted to resolve prior to completing a dispute. You may end up eating the return shipping though.

When disputing the transaction, make sure that you include initial and return shipping. Describe that those funds were to be returned or at least split return shipping in the final dispute agreement even though it was the sellers fault for shipping other than desc/pictured.

I would initiate a dispute with paypal (make sure it is not just a complaint). You may have to 'advance' the complaint once completed to a dispute since you have already attempted to resolve the transaction with the seller.

Leave feedback once everything is done.

Ya that is why i usually try to order stuff from big companies even if it means paying a little more. If there is a problem it is taken care of without question usually.
Although you did get a good deal on those headers if i remember correctly. It just took you a month to install them (joke)

I've got hit up by a few people on ebay... heck I've got a negative feedback posted on my ebay account because the guy accidently hit Negative instead of Positive... till it was too late...

I contacted ebay, and the guy who accidently did it, wrote a formal appology and sent it to me. So I forwarded it to ebay... they told me that they were "sorry, and they couldn't help me..."

But this was like in the spring of '03... and I still have a copy of the letter to show anyone who wants to see it if they want to know why I got that negative feedback way back when...
