Holy chit, ohh hells no, no way no how I could do it.

I went 3500 one time, just simply wasnt watching. When I realized I was tempted to pull over and call for a tow trck to bring me some oil, a catch pan and a filter and do it on the side of the road.

I refrained and waited until I got home that night though!

Years ago I had a 79 F-150 that sported a 302 with extensive mods. I always ran Rotella 15W/40 in that thing. I also ran it in my 87 T-bird Turbo Coupe. Never any trouble with them.

Just don't run the stuff in a motorcycle engine. The wet clutch will slip with regular motor oil in it.

Diesel oil and motor oil are the same stock, just that diesel has extra additives to help with all the soot those engines create.

Back in my lubie days when 10W30 was standard for trucks I used to recommend diesel oil to customers who had just bought used trucks and weren't sure how they were treated by the previous owner. I figured the extra detergents and additives might help clean up the inside of the engine. I never got fired for doing it and I never got a single complaint. It actually had a strange placebo effect in a couple of my customers and they said they felt an improvement and would use nothing but diesel thereafter.

The power of suggestion is amazing.

I run Rotella in my Grand Nationals.A lot of guys on the turbo buick forums do .In the last few years they have taken some additives out of the oils for gas engines, most importantly zinc.A lot of older engines have flat tappet camshafts and zinc can help the flat tappet camshafts live longer.Especially in a turbo buick engine where the oiling system is barely sufficient. Most newer engines have roller cams and don't really need zinc...So big brother decided no gas engine needs zinc anymore.

I run Rotella T 15W-40 in my YZ250 wet clutch and in my RM-Z250 four stroke. Engine oil is shared with the transmission in the RM-Z. The only thing you have to watch out for is added friction modifiers. Wet clutches don't like them. Regular Rotella T doesn't contain any friction modifiers and works great for me in these applications.

I think worse things have been in your boat's oil... But no, I don't think you will hurt anything by running "diesel" oil in your gassers. That being said, no way in hell I'm running anything but 15w40 Motorcraft "Powerstroke" oil in my truck. And I change my oil ever 5K miles (on the dot) in this truck. Did it every 3K in my last one. And Matt, if you're worried about your truck, get the engine oil analyzed by Blackstone Labs. They did it for my Powerstroker. I can email you the exact specific test results if you'd like, but here is thread I started on it... https://www.f150online.com/forums/sh...d.php?t=299082

I work for fedex and we're expected to check the oil and add as needed when we do our VIR every day. The oil they put out for us to use is Pennzoil 15w40, says DIESEL in large letters, underneath that it says "for diesel and gasoline engines".

I'm sure it'll be fine in the lawnmower.. if you think you may have put in your truck then just change it out, tho I doubt it's hurt anything..
