Don't be "Ignorant"

If someone said to you "No need to be ignorant" what would that mean to you?

I'll explain the context in a bit....just curious if it is a Maryland thing or not.

UrbanCowboy Jul 19, 2007 01:05 PM

I guess if Vader's not giving the context, I should refain from replying at this time. :beers:

But I will say, Vader is Ignorant.

vader716 Jul 19, 2007 01:09 PM

Putz...stuff it....

GIve the context if ya want...didn't want to taint the responses....but go ahead.

PSS-Mag Jul 19, 2007 01:15 PM

To me means you are about to do or thinking about doing something that displays a lack of knowledge.

vader716 Jul 19, 2007 01:18 PM

Crazed, what do you take that to mean

Raoul Jul 19, 2007 01:25 PM

I don't ever hear the phrase used as a warning,
rather it's a condemnation of something you've already said or done.

lovetrucks Jul 19, 2007 01:25 PM

Naive?

vader716 Jul 19, 2007 01:28 PM

Dang I thought a VA and NJ person might be similar to me.

Ok so here in Maryland (I've checked with a ton of people I work with)

"Don't be ignorant" can also mean Don't be rude or nasty.

It must be a Maryland or even Baltimore thing.

I know it means uneducated but was surprised when I looked it up online and didn't see a reference to rude.

Go figure.

vader716 Jul 19, 2007 01:31 PM

I ain't no yank!!! (not yet...:()

referee54 Jul 19, 2007 01:33 PM

Darn border states---I guess it would mean in Ohio---"You don't know how to act." In other words, your ignorance of how to speak, what to say, and how to behave in this situation is showing BIGTIME.

UrbanCowboy Jul 19, 2007 01:33 PM

I told you that your opinion on the phrase was ignorant.

vader716 Jul 19, 2007 01:35 PM

I ain't admitting you are right twice. NO WAY!

Here in 'da 313 if someone says "no need 'da be 'ignant" its usually followed by "'derz no need 'fo you to be meetin' my fist neither..." and BAM! Punch to the face.

God I love this town.

Found this Vader. See #16.

16. Ignorant 7 up, 11 down

A word used to denote anyone who is particularly obnoxious, unintelligent, annoying, vain, cynical, rude, jerky, or any other undesirable qualities.

When Billy was trying to weasel in on the South prank he was classified as ignorant.
