Don't think they will win this weekend.
If ether one makes it to the front I am going to crap.

How many times had Knaus been caught cheating now. Several. Right off the top of my head I can think of 3 within the last couple of years. Dover, Daytona, and now Sonoma. Gordon's CC was caught at Daytona. But of course nothing happened to the Golden Boys crew because they said "it was an accident, we didn't mean to, so sorry".
It will be interesting to see what kind of fines and/or (hoping for and) suspension they will get. NASCAR is pretty strict about messing with this new car. Let's start uping the ante with more monetary fines and longer suspensions. How about $150k and 8 weeks off per crew chief? Sounds good to me. |
It's been done before.... In '92 Ernie Irvan won at that track starting from the back of the pack.He got blackflagged on the start and sent to the rear of the field.

At some point, Gordon will be at the front .. satying there will requirea couple of good breaks.
He wasn't cheating at Daytona .. a shock/spring mount failed because it was installed incorrectly .. and it wasn't somthing they were trying to get away with .. the car was pretty unsafe after it broke. It will be interesting to see how this gets spun .. One of the guys I talked to this afternoon said it was pretty damn visible .. you could see it with the naked eye .. Car fit the templates (skelator) fine, but was outside of the tolerances allowed based on the digital measuments they take at the R&D center. bad thing about this for NASCAR is now everyone weill be whining, saying "I knew they were cheating, that is how they won the other COT races" .. lol just taking more talk away from what happens on the track. Black helicopters are everywhere these days, don't ya know. No way anything was wrong with the previous Hendrick COT's that were victorious .. they were totally dismantled at R&D following each victory, which is the plan for every COT winner this year, and other random COT's. Early guess from me .. Fined 150 driver and owner points. Letarte suspened 6 races, fined $100,000 Knaus suspended 9 races, fined $150,000 due to prior history. |
Gordon not cheating at Daytona? Yeah right. Not buying that. You can't tell me those guys didn't know what would happen if they left the bolt loose on the spring mount.
If they were cheating in the other races we would have heard. I hate that they are stinking up the show, but they were legal. They will have a good time getting through the field. Of course there are always a few hopefulls that will make their day harder; The Human Pinball a.k.a. Juan Pablo Montoya, David Stremme, Robby Gordon, Kyle Busch, David Gilliland. Here's the kicker, Gordon & Johnson didn't get to qualify. Why are they 41st & 42nd. How did they out qualify P.J. Jones? |

eta....scratch that. oops! no clue how he's 43rd Scratch that just looking at qualifying times he was 34th fastest. But starts 43? I don't know. Tony starts 5th so it's all good. |
I just remembered. 43rd is reserved as a past champions provisional. If it's not used by them, it can be used by one of the faster go or go homers.

There was no point in letting the 24 or 48 qualify today .. then knew they were sending them to the back. They will probably get a partial practice tomorrow .. also .. PJ qualified on speed .. 34th or something like that .. not sure why he has been moved to the back .. the 00 is 41st in owner points .. so he had to race his way in .. another interesting thing .. 6 of the 8 toyotas qualified .. . |

I can't believe that it made it through the qualifier ..

I'd venture to guess that the loose bolt was a mishap, not an intentional deal. I'd like to give him the benefit of the doubt, as I don't think any team would be as stupid as that to put their driver at risk at a superspeedway.
As for getting caught for cheating today, I think the 150 points and 6-9 week vacation for the crew cheifs is probably realistic. They had better at least match Jr.'s penalties, and should be more severe as teams have been warned by the other infractions this year. My question is... did they really think they would get away with this? |

I was jsut watching Speed Channel. They interviewed Rick Hendrick and he said he doesn't think they should get a penalty. They have recieved penalty enough by not being able to practice.
Here's a big ol F U to you Rick Hendrick. |
