Buying Quads: need advice

Buying Quads: need advice
Having been raised riding dirt bikes (2-stroke CR250s and CR500s), it just hurts too much when I crash.
So the time has come to buy some quads.
Am considering a Yamaha YZF450 or Raptor 700 for myself.
And a full-automatic sport quad for the girl...something along the lines of a Yamaha Wolverine 350 or Can Am 250.
Any quad owners want to offer some advice?

I fail to see the logic here. "It hurts when I fall off my bike, so I'm going to get something with 4 wheels as the greater number of wheels equals less pain when I crash it."
Buy an old Freightliner or Peterbuilt to take off road, with all those wheels it will be like falling on a pillow-top mattress when you crash.

I owned a 2004 YFZ450. Great quad. It had plenty of power but I lightly modded it (airbox mod, alky injection, +2 swingarm, +2 front a-arms, removed elec start in favor of kick) and it would spank all kinds of modded banshees, raptors, and the like. Very nice for either sport riding or trail riding, a little of both. Anyway, that's what I would get out of those two as the Raptor is a little too heavy IMO.

I am 6' 1" and the 450 just seems to small, It felt like sitting on my 426 and that thing would kill my back in just a hour. I can ride my Rappy all day with little pain. I have road the new 450's and they are nice. Good wide power, But my 700 feels sooo much better sitting on, And has the same HP as the 450. 46hp

i was in the same boat a few years ago (dirtbikes getting me hurt) i have owned 4 quads since then, if you want more of a track qaud get the 450, great bike very fast good power band, you want something you can cruise all day that is still way fast that will start every time no choke get the 700, i got the 700 as soon as it came out, since then i have modded it with the basics, intake, exaust, feul controller, it will spank stock 450 ether the yami or the honda, IMO got the 700 unless you stay at the track 450 is a great track qaud

Thanks guys.
I pulled the trigger on the Raptor 700 Special Edition. I'll be cruising on trails as much as I'll be ridding hard in the dunes. I pick it up Saturday...can't wait.
My girl and my sister still need quads. They want full automatics.
Have you guys heard anything good or bad about the Yamaha Wolverine 350?

My buddy just bought a Wolverine 450 last Saturday. It has ok power, and a top speed of about 54. Way to small for my use, but it would be great for a lady.
Oh yea, it goes decent in mud too.
