I'm getting scared

My boss just came over and said that tomorrow he'll get my redeployment letter to me. I will have 6 weeks from that point to decide if I'm taking the severance package or if I'm going into the redeployment pool. It's all coming at me so quick. :help:

Meet with all your co-workers and have EVERYONE take the severance package.. that's what all the Ford employees did.. LOL

J/k

Dunno what to do, but good luck.

That would be ideal but we have a medical insurance issue to cover. I am the benefits carrier in the family. Hubby just started a new job which offers benefits in 90 days. I have less than 60 left here. BUT.... in the severance package is cash for 2 months of COBRA.

We're just going to have to sit down and crunch the numbers.

I hope everything works out for you and the family RC, I know change can be scary.

Sucks to hear that. I just went thru the same thing with my company. They said you can re-locate or take the severence package. I have worked for this company for some time and told them to stick it up there azz. So here is the good news. 20k retention bonus to stay until the branch closes, 2 weeks before branch closes start a 60day redeployment period (full salary and average bonus for last year) then after the 60days severence starts for 3mos (full Salary). So it does suck loosing a job but sometimes it can work out alright.

Ride it out, and take the severance, especially if there is a bonus attached.

However, if you don't have roots in the city you're in (A compelling reason to stay), move with the company. But, if you have a skill that will be applicable at a similiar job in your city, ride it out.

I'd start sending resumes about 4 weeks out, because it's going to take a week for them to reach the employers, another week for anyone interested to call you, then you can give your job a 2-week notice...

Take the money (severance) and run.

I had a few friends who got their entire severance in a lump sum on walk day. Some of those jokers left here with a $32,000.00 deposit heading to their bank account. With that kind of loot, you can pay off debt, and possibly afford to take a pay cut. You're only really screwed if you do like one of my friends did. Spending spree, vacation, all of it nibbling away at his severance, then tried to look for a job...

He got lucky and landed a gig as a contractor, but still at a substantial pay cut. His ONLY saving grace was low overhead, with the exception of his house.

I more than doubled my salary one year thanks to stay pay & severance. I took a lump-sum payout. Thanks to a clerical error however, I also recieved my bi-weekly severance checks for a couple months after as well. Bonus!
