Site's been slow today...

I don't know whether maintenance is underway, the server is in trouble, or it's just that active out here, but I have gotten this a lot today:

Yep, slow for me too.

I'm not getting the server busy message anymore, but it's still a touch slower than usual.

it's definately been slow for me lately. I was trying to load some pics yesterday and that took way too long. Got the message like Hersh a handful of times as well:cool:

It's OK today, it was crazy yesterday, and Monday.

I have Comcast HS Internet at home, I can go up to 3 Mbps on that thing (download) and 256 Kbps upload. That's better than many small businesses. (Trust me on that).

But, at work, we (In my department) all have individual 10 Mbps connections at our desks. I can't get much faster.

******************************************

My laptop is a 80 GB, Pentium IV, 1.8 GHz, 512 MB RAM.
My home PC is a 40 GB, Pentium IV, 1.7GHz, but here's the snub- it only has 256 MB RAM (I need to bump that up...)

My PC is 5 years old, and I've had this laptop for 3 years. I'm sure the new stuff can better utilize the bandwidth than my older machines. I was thinking about upgradign to Vista. If I read the specs correctly, it recommends (or requires) a minimum of 1024 MB RAM to run it.

Bumping my old Gateway 500 MHz (1999) up from 128 to 512 MB RAM, made it just as fast as my "then new" Gateway Pentium IV at 256 MB RAM. Hopefully, if I bump this bad boy from 256 to 1024, I won't continue to feel compelled to get a new PC.
