Cheney's Relatives ???
An Arnolds Park hunter was injured following a deer hunting incident near Estherville Saturday. It was the first personal injury report of the 2006-07 firearm deer hunting seasons.
Larry Peterson, 59, was hunting with two friends at Anderson Prairie, public property located north of Estherville when the incident happened between 9:30 and 10 a.m. Reports indicate the three had completed a hunt and were back at their vehicles when Peterson’s gun slipped from his hands, hitting the ground and discharging. The slug passed through his left wrist. Peterson was taken to a hospital in Estherville, and later transferred to a hospital in Sioux Falls, S.D. Initial reports did not provide the names of the hospitals. Authorities did say his injuries were not life threatening. No one else was injured in the incident. Raymond J. Wolff, 32, of Norwalk, underwent surgery Sunday at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines for injuries he suffered while hunting private property in northern Lucas County. Initial information shows that Wolff was sitting at the base of a tree and attempted to remove a branch that was poking him in the back with the stock of his gun. When he did, the gun discharged, removing the top two-thirds of his right index finger, which was apparently covering the muzzle of the barrel. The incident happened shortly after 7 a.m. on Sunday. Wolff was transported to Methodist following the accident. Source: Des Moines Register |
