There's a THIEF in our forum...

Hey guys, just wanted to let you all know we have a thief here. I'll try to keep this short and to the point....

The last week of October I found a set of running boards in the classifieds here on the site. I sent an email to the seller asking for more info. He emailed back and gave me his phone number and told me to call, if I felt more comfortable doing business that way, which I did. I called, we talked and agreed on a price a day or two later that included shipping. I FedEx'd the money to him and he confirmed reciept of it on Nov. 1st. Long story short, I still do not have the running boards nor do I have my money back which he promised he would do. And to top it all off, he has refused to answer my phone calls, call me back or respond to my emails since Nov.21st. All I got from him were broken promises and excuses. Here's pretty much what he's been telling me the last month..

Also if you would like to call me tonight so you'd feel more comfortable dealing with me that would be fine. My number is xxx-xxx-xxxx Thanks!

If they don't show up I'll just refund you your $250 + overnight shipping charges and I'll take the loss. Unfortunately I didn't insure them so that teaches me a lesson. In any case I'm sorry this whole thing got out of hand but there's still hope that they show up. Please let me know if and when they do. Thanks Tom.

Notice he tells me he did NOT insure them

From the beginning I've been up front and honest with you but unfortunately there are just some things I can't control, in this case the shipping company. I'm sorry for the lack or replies or responses from my end but as you must know by now I'm an extremely busy man, I'm a small business owner ( edited personal info no one needs to see )Getting this straightened out is definitely a priority for me but as I'm sure you can understand there just is'nt enough time in the day to get everything done.

In any case I checked with the location where my wife shipped out the running boards (Fed Ex not UPS) and for some reason or another they were unable to give me clarification on what happened to my package. I then spoke to the manager and explained to him how this now makes me look bad to the person on the other end (You). After hours of going back and fourth we finaly came to the only reasonable outcome which was that they give me a refund for the shipping along with the ammount I insured the package for. So now all I'm waiting for is the refund check to come in the mail. They promised me it would be at my home this week no later than Friday. I asked them if the holiday (Thurs would have any effect on this and they assured me it would be at my home by Friday). So as you can see I'm trying my best to get this sorted out properly and as quicly as I can. I just havnt sent you a refund because this clearly was NOT my fault therefore I dont want to be out a set of running boards and $250... Do you see what I'm saying???

I sincerely appologize for the miss-communication and miss-understanding. I surely hope you understand where I'm coming from and will be patient for a few more days. I'll be sure to contact you by e-mail or phone when I send out your refund in full. Thanks and happy holidays.

Hmmm, I though he didnt insure them?? Whatever the case, its between him and FedEx, not me. I paid for an item and never received it. I just want my money back. He constantly tells me he is very busy and doesnt have time to respond to my emails or messages. In the beginning he was on top of it with only a day or two between emails or phone calls. He doesn't have time to respond to me, but has enough time to come here and sign on to the site at night..why cant I get an eamil back from him?

Anyway, I just want you guys to know that there's a thief among the group and if you happen to see a set of running boards for sale from the Tampa Fl. area, dont buy them. The guy is obviously a scammer which he proves by changing his story, constantly making excuses and now just stopped all communication with me.The good thing is that I've done some research and found the FBI has an interent fraud department I will be filing a complaint with, sending someone money for something and not getting what you paid for is obviously a crime and this one is considered a Federal Offense and I have an appointment with my company's attorney next Wednesday.

Be careful guys, Honesty, integrity and just plain ethics are a thing of the past.

I ran into a guy on the classifieds that gave me the runaround on transaction like that. Fortunately for me, I did eventually get my money back.

It was on a factory 6-Disk CD changer, and I think what actually happened is that his wife got wind that he was planning on putting a new radio in his truck and put the kebosh to it! I suspect he was just stringing me along for awhile in the hope that the old "ball and chain" would relent, or he would find some other way of getting the money together.

It's a good thing he did eventually send my money back though -- as fate would have it, my work has me traveling to the city he lived in every now and then, and I had his address from where I sent the check. If he had never sent my money back you can bet that there'd be a corresponding amount of damage to his truck one morning when he woke up........

As someone who routinely goes after eBay scammers and other assorted vermin on the internet for a hobby:

1) If you paid via credit card, even if through PayPal, file a charge back on the card immediately under fraud

2) If you paid with a postal money order, file a complaint for fraud with the postmaster general

3) Contact the thiefs state attorney general, file a fraud complaint. Also file a complaint with his local law enforcement, i.e. the police and county attorney or whatver they call it in his state.

DO NOT FILE A CIVIL ACTION PRIOR TO EXHAUSTING THE ABOVE REMEDIES !!! Many times law enforcement won't help much if you've already filed a suit and you want this a-wipe to be punished.
