Drove a race car at Pocono Raceway

A little expensive, but it was hell of an adreneline rush!! Drove a Nascar stock car yesterday for the 20mi program at Pocono Raceway. Damn, they are FAST!
I did the 3 lap ride along first with an instructor, who took us up to about 170mph top speed. After a change of pants, then drove for 8 laps topping out at about 160mph. The boys on Sunday top at over 200mph!! I don't know how they do it.
The straightaways are nothing ,it's the turns... It's amazing how well they stick in the corners. And the power is awesome!
I would highly recommend it to anyone interested in high speed.
Anyway, just wanted to share my experience and say go for it to anyone thinking about doing it. It's really a sureal experience.

Kinda makes you want to keep cummin' to the track, doesn't it?

And some people would rather street-race. LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOsers.

That does sound like fun. I got the ******* just going 90, let alone 160. I've been invited to run my Mustang GT on the Virginia International Raceway during one of their club days. The have this thing called Running the Lights where they bring out the pace car, and you follow them around the road course at a sedate 70 mph. That's probably fast enough for me on a road course.

Sounds like a blast. I was invited to a Marlboro sponsored event at the Chicagoland Speedway in Joliet this summer. We were given a ride along in a Nascar for 3 laps. He topped out around 150-160ish. I agree the turns were the best part. It definitely gave me the itch to take the wheel and drive one myself. I think I conviced my wife that will be my birthday present next yr. We were also given a ride with a pro drifter in one of the Mustangs. I thought that would be a little to Ricey for my taste but that was actually a blast. The funny part was the drifter driver I rode with was a female and she was one of the best drivers on the course.

This is also reportedly a pretty intense racetrack experience

Riding around on the back of a motorcycle piloted by Gran Prix winner Randy Mamola.

It it about $525 for 20 miles, which is 8 laps. I added the 3 lap ride along which was an additional $90. Like I said, expensive, but still worth it and I would like to do it again.
