Ford ESP

Does anyone here have any experience with the ESP (Extended Service Plan) from Ford? I am about 4K from my warranty running out and was curious to if anyone here has it and if they have ever had to used it. I am just entertaining the idea seeing as how I got a card from Ford today talking about it. I know that offer different levels of the plan with different prices which cover different items.

In the past I have never had any other plan other than the basic warranty and never needed it, but seeing as how I do not plan on getting rid of the F-150 and It is almost paid off, I thought about at least looking into it. Anyway everyone's info is welcome on what they think.

Thanks in advance.

I have it until 2009 or 75K, what ever comes first.

so far I have used up about 8K worth of work done to it if not a lot more out of warrenty that was covered by Ford.

While this is true, most would reccommend that Mattineer take out an ESP on his life, it needs lots of warranty work too. haha.

I have it and have used it on different vehicles. Just like any insurance, if you don't use it it was a waste of money, if you do use it it, it was worth every penny. As far a problems, I have never had problems with the Ford ESP. I would not buy any other companies insurance. Heard too many horror stories of paying for it and when it was needed, they would not honor it. I usually get the premium care, which also takes care of towing, loaner, and is only $50 out of my pocket.
On my one vehicle, at 98k I needed new hubs, spindels, and just about everything else on the front drive. Cost me $50 for a job that would have cost around $1000. Had a AC compressor go out the one time. Again only $50. In those cases, it was definitely worth it.

I had it on my mustang and had a tranny replaced.

My bro-in-law had it and had his rear and his tranny replaced on his Ranger.

I have one on my F150 but I'm still on the OEM warranty.

Buy a Premiumcare warranty if you do; there's a lot of loopholes and things that aren't covered in an Extracare warranty.

Thanks guys. I really appreciate all of your input.

I too am considering extending. I had the clutch packs fail on my 03 Expy and there seems to be an odd noise coming from somewhere. My question....am I misunderstanding something or does this include the regular maintenance as well (say for the Premiumcare)? They note things like 3000 or 5000??

I'm not sure. Maybe someone will come along and answer it for us both. I need to do some more reading on the different plans they offer.

Maintenance is not included in the Premiumcare ESP package. There is a maintenance contract available, but I'm not exactly sure how long it lasts and how much it costs.

ESP Update

Thanks for the info everyone. I had a few minutes of free time at work and was finally able to call ESP. They said it is in fact an extension of the Ford Factory Warranty and it does NOT include maint.

I believe there is something that the dealerships try to sell when you buy the new truck; is it a Quality Service Plan? Anyways this pays for the oil change, tire rotation, and any routine maint. done at the 5,000 intervals if I am not mistaken. The tried to offer it to me but since I only drive 8 mi/round trip a day to work it takes me quite a long time before I need the oil change at 4,000/5,000 miles.
