AP: U.S. to Give Iran Nuclear Technology

VIENNA, Austria

A package of incentives presented Tuesday to Iran includes a provision for the United States to supply Tehran with some nuclear technology if it stops enriching uranium - a major concession by Washington, diplomats said.

Makes sense to me....

"now you guys behave and leave the nuclear stuff alone and we'll give you some of our own. But only if you promise to behave."

maybe we should show them what could happen if one accidently went off.

I remember what seems like not to long ago, we were giving weapons and technology to the TALIBAN and Suddam Hussaine. What a turn of events.

'round & 'round we go. Where it stops, no one knows.:D

Aren't we supposed to learn from our mistakes?

UrbanCowboy Jun 6, 2006 05:47 PM

We're not handing them nukes people.

PenguinFX4 Jun 6, 2006 05:47 PM

You guys should be aware that the process for developing nuclear power is completely different in nature and design than developing nuclear weapons.

My father in law tried to explain it to me once (he has 5 PhDs and his first was in nuclear physics), but somehow the concept got lost on me...

But, we are giving them the technology.

Isnt that close enough?

kobiashi Jun 6, 2006 05:59 PM

Actually, I didn't start this thread with concern about the nuclear technology.

USAFPATRIOT1 Jun 6, 2006 08:06 PM

Read between the lines...URBANCOWBOY/PENGUINFX4 are right. I'm sure that this a last ditch effort so that when we do strike Iran no one can say we did not go the extra mile to secure peace...like they did with Iraq. Unfortunately, many still will. We are only offering the same concessions Russia already has plus the chance at diplomatic relations with the United States. Extending the olive branch one last time to appease the unappeasable.

It's not the same technology. Iram has been offered help with the "Nuclear Lite" version of the reactor which produces the power they claim they need (yeah right?) but not produce the weapons grade enriched uranium as a by product for the nukes (which is not their stated intention. Yeah right again)

It's all part of a big poker bluff. Obviously Iran cannot and will not accept help from the Great Satan (you) and it's Imperialist Lapdog (us) so we can say that all efforts have been made to reach a compromise and therefore Iran will get it's nukes as it so desires.

From about 30,000 feet
