What? You can't have tint in Jersey?!

My boy just called, he went to get his bimmer inspected, and they told him he had to remove the tint from his front two windows...

He can have tint on the back three, but no tint on the front two...

What kind of crazy @$$ crap is that? That would look crazy- having tint on the back three, and nothing on the front. Is this true, or was that one uninformed vehicle inspector?

That seems to becoming the norn in every state........it is more or less for the safety of "public officials" who need to confront the driver of the vehicle......

In MD nothing darker than 35% and in NJ that inspector is correct...nothing up front

You can't even pump your own gas in NJ, crazy place.

What is the reasoning? They don't think people are safe with the nozzles?

No tints on front windows allowed in Illinois either. I got sick and tired of rolling down the windows every time I passed a squad car. It seemed like when I didn’t roll down the windows I was pulled over every time. The police really do not like them here. When they do pull you over, if they are jerks, they will look for anything else, since they are there, to write you on. As a young teen I was even ticketed for a garder belt hanging off of the rear view mirror. Haven't hung anything up their since.

Virginia allows some tint on the front sides but not as much as in the back sides or back.

I guess it's for visibilty and protecting an officer approaching a vehicle.

In states that have no tint restrictions, do they require you to lower the window or require you to exit the vehicle regardless of weather conditions?

I believe New Jersey and Oregon are the only two states where you can't 'pump your own'. To do with environmental issues aka 'Topping Off' spillage.

I would not want filling station yahoos weilding a nozzle around the side of my truck! Scary thought.

JS2003 Dec 6, 2005 12:05 PM

Personally, I can't blame police for not wanting to walk up to a vehicle in which they can't even see the driver. Increases the chance of getting shot, I would imagine...

I agree with Blue.....I would not want any gas station attendant to be weilding anything steel near the sides of my painted vehicle....

....it amazes me each and every day what odd laws seem to be passed in this nation........it is a shame that this is not a nation that is ruled by the courts and not the people........ :coffee:

I always wondered that myself, I'm not from NJ but the first time I was there visiting my friend, Igot out to pump my own gas the attendant freaked out at me and informed me it's against the law to pump your own gas. I thought that we were bat***** crazy in NY and I know PA is a weird place but honestly not being allowed to pump your own gas?

I think thats a crazy law myself. If I'm going to pay 500 some bucks a month for my truck, you better believe I'm going to pump gas in it that I'm also going to be paying for! The states that have those laws are crazy!

as far as the tint goes, I have no idea how much if any u can tint :D

They let you pump your own gas in Ohio?
I figured for sure, your picture would be hanging up at the gas stations.
