Honda doesn't appear 2 b hurting (Record sales)
I stumbled across this article while searching for info on the new 2006 Civic.
This is astonishign news considering the fact that the Big 3 have had "Employee Pricing" and also the fact that consumer confience has shrank considerably... Read on. I believe that GM was the only manufactuer to offer employee pricing during the month of June. Anyway, it's not surprising given the cost of petrol these day.
I still like my F150 though! Honda's and Acura's are too high in carbs! |
I have an uncle that works at a local honda dealer. "Officially" they do not do employee pricing. But the deals they are cutting are right at employee prices. Especially on the ridgeline and pilot models. Other models like the accord/civic are near 3K off sticker. Keep in mind the hondas do not have anywhere near the margins of the big 3. :fyi:

Big Honda fan eh?
Why not buy a FORD? (we make cars too dude) :fyi: |
The 06 Civics are going to be slow to sell, I fear. They look just like Saturn Ion's. I mean, since the Honda badge is covered in this pic, could you distinguish that as a Honda (or any other foreign make for that matter)? Looks like domestic to me in that pic, hence the Ion reference.
https://tinypic.com/al18w3.jpg https://tinypic.com/al18us.jpg Saturn is owned by GM, are they not? I wonder if on their Ridgeline cooperation, that Honda and GM didn't share other things? -Travis |
My friend works for a honda dealership and installs alarms. He says everything has been really slow, he's going to capitola this weekend to another dealership to work because sales are so bad.
He told me that he feels Honda's are low quality econoboxes with a pretty decent engine (in regards to durability, not performance.) The new ridgeline is a joke, it's built on a minivan unibody, it doesn't even have a frame... that's really good for load capacity and offroad capability huh.... I'll never buy a Honduh, that's all I know, and I hope that Ford and GM can make a comeback and instil some confidence in our own domestic market. Chrysler is now controlled by Mercedes so as far as i'm concerned they can go down the sh*tter... |
Well somebody is lying...
Either Honda is; or whomever is reporting slowness to you guys... It's hard to have record sales, and slowness at the same time: https://www.f150online.com/galleries...539-133866.jpg |

Lord Vader- you know Honda is selling more than 1 car a week...
But, if you sold 1,000 cars last month, and 1,100 this month- that's a 10% increase... I'd bet most would be happy with that... And margins? I think Honda, Nissan and 'Yota are killing us on margins... Think about it; they'd have to be. Overall- Toyota probably doesn't sell as many cars in the US (all makes & models) as Ford does per year of the F-150. Yet, they are far more profitable... That can only be possible due to making more money per unit sold (higher margin) or through reduced overhead, or a combination of both. |

Carry on. Honda doesn't negotiate until Honda wants to negotiate (And that's when "MR. Opportunity" comes out. Any other time, if you get $500.00 off MSRP, you've done a dam*ed good job of negotiating. Their sales people are so GD confident in their product (And with good reason) that they don't bend, because they know before the heat from your butt dissipates from their chair; a new butt will be there, warming it back up. The payoff; is if you're ready to pay sticker- almost any Honda is a vehicle that is reliable, and holds it's value- that you can quite possibly sell for a decent profit between what you owe and what it's worth; should you decide to trade out of it or sell it. Those b@$tards don't negotiate though; the only cars you'll get a deal on at Honda, are "demo's". So, if you know of a place where Honda's selling cars at "Employee Prices" let me know- maybe I can get my family that Odessey EX-L. See the Odessey on various rims here: (Click) |
Auto sales are recorded when a vehicle is built and shipped, not when sold off the lot. It is real easy to post high sales, and the dealer sales be slow.
:fyi: The Big 3 have closed the gap in quality. Its mostly perception in the minds of easily led consumers. Do you believe conumer reports? You may as well believe everything you read. |
Of course honda makes more money/unit. Re-read my post.

But, the US cars were so bull***** over years past that they have to work their way back from that perception... I'm still scared to buy a GM product having gone 0 & 2 with the General; but so far- we're on our 4th Ford, and no real problems with them... No problems at all with the Nissans and Honda's we've had... |

I re-read it Frank... Me no understand... Are you saying the margin is less or more than the Big 3. Stating it the way it's written makes it rear as if Honda's margin is lower than the Big three. Let me write that phrase in another sentence all us men can understand. ----------------------------- Keep in mind that Beyonce' Knowles does not have anywhere near the booty-roundness of Jennifer Lopez's. That would lead one to believe that J. Lo's booty is nicer than Beyonce's- when it isn't... |
