The greatest snowfall in North America in 24 hours was 76 inches (195.6 centimeters) in Silver Lake, Colorado, U.S.A., on April 14 to April 15 in 1921.
The greatest snowfall in North America in one month was 390 inches (991 centimeters) in Tamarack, California, U.S.A., in January of 1911
The hottest temperature ever recorded was in El Azizia, Libya, at 136.4 degrees Fahrenheit (58 degrees Celsius), on September 13, 1922
The coldest recorded temperature ever recorded was in Vostok, Antarctica, at -128.20 degrees Fahrenheit (-89 degrees Celsius), on July 21, 1983.
The greatest rainfall in the United States for 24 hours was 43 inches (109 centimeters) in Alvin, Texas, on July 25 to July 26 in 1979.
Four hurricanes, Charley, Frances, Ivan, and Jeanne, hit Florida in August-September 2004. The last and only recorded instance of 4 hurricanes hitting the same state in 1 season was in Texas in 1886
There are an estimated 44,000 thunderstorms worldwide everyday.
