Arrow memory stick vs. SD memory

My digital camera accepts both memory stick and sd memory. I am looking to add more memory and dont really know much about either type. From a brief look at prices it appears that the sd is cheaper then the memory stick. Is one type better than the other?

They all will give you the same quality file dictated by camera, as far as I know they all have the same data transfer rate. So I'd say go for the one that is cheapest. If there is a difference in data transfer time the average user isn't going to notice. Get as large as you can afford too.

Get the SD... unless you have other sony products... the SD can be used in other stuff while the ghey Memory sticks are a ****-Sony proprietery item.

there is a difference in speed with the different type of memory storage devices. (compact flash is the fastest I think) Do a little searching ont he web for "Secure digital Versus Sony memory stick" and see what it turns up. I agree that SD is compatable with more items and cameras.

I have both. My sony F505 takes the notarious MS the kodak point and shoot Eazy Share or what ever it is uses SD and the Canon DRebel takes SD, I have a 7 in 1 reader and when moving files from card or stick to pc, then I can not tell a difference. Each camera takes different times to save files but that depends up on the quality settings I use and the actuall cameras processor. I havent ever clocked the data transfer rates but non are maxing out the 2.0 USB port. I'm not a big fan of propriety products like the Sony MS either, but a lot of MP3 players and other digital media products other then Sony products are starting to use them for additional storage. So they must have something going for them. It will be hard for Sony to over come the propriety mind set of the consumer so that will require lots of marketing on thier part to make us forget about that. But they have the resources to pull that kind of PR off so I forecast that many more products will be using the MS in the very near future. But the price for them will likely go up because of it.
I've got 5GB worth of them so I'll be good for a while.
