I saw a show on Animal planet about this. It was so long ago and I was bombed, so I don't remember all the lil details, but I think it has something to do with their natural defense's.

I love the great outdoors and all the mysteries of mother nature.

I think hungry crows may be behind exploding toads.

:santa:

Didn't the crows have to "learn" to turn the toads over on their backs, or it would kill the crows ...or something like that?

You gave an explanation what you have heard on Animal Planet.
I guess you didn't read the whole article because that was what was said there also.

I just quoted the title.

A combination of the crow attack and their natural defense was the cause for exploding of the toads.

I hate crows. I have two of them around the house, they are nestling. These suckers are protected but I managed to get rid of their nest like 10 times now but every time they rebuilt it.
Untill now, I finally won.

Well, you have crows and that other black bird.
We call them roek, I don't know the name in English.
It is similar to a crow, only smaller.
I am no birdwatcher, therefore I cannot say what bird is nestling here.

Roeks however are protected since 1936.
I don't have a gun so they don't have to fear me.
Even clapping your hands to chase them away is forbidden.

I see them more and more every year.
