What's the "F"

Might be a stupid question, but what does the "F" in F-150 stand for?

Sorry, I tries to search the threads for it but you can imagine how many results you get by using F-150.

Thanks

ummmm... Do you think it might be
FORD

p.s. Chevy has the C-1500
Dodge has (used to have) the D-100
Jeep has (used to have) the J-150
Do you see a pattern here?

Then what is the "E" in E-150?

Econoline?

Farming

Henry Ford was the son of a farmer and saw the hard work on the fields. He designed the pickup truck to help the farmers get their stuff from the land.

There is one small hole in your statement in that the C series chevys were the 4x2s, and the K series were the 4x4s.

What's the "150" then? The original displacement?

Peacemaker Apr 9, 2005 11:57 PM

I always wondered about that. I think it's just a cool sounding number when you pronounce it. What if they called it the F-134? Doesn't sound right does it?:D That's problably why they call it the 150. It's an even number.

I think it has to do with hauling capacity?
