Ford's Jerking My SVT Buddy Around
I told you the story about my pal Tom
(BRAND NEW 04 Yellow Cobra Convert) The Car's has no boost, OR PROPER BALLS for that matter. So as you know in my last post I had him contact the Dealer and complain. Well check this out, Fords trying to tell him a Supercharged Cobra only suppose to have 4lbs of boost MAX and his seems normal. I hate when some Ford A-Hole takes advantage of a unknowing Customer. (Tom has no knowledge of the Cobra or S/C, other than what I've explained to him) I already told you I let him read all your opinions on the first post and he thanks each and everyone of you for convincing him there was something wrong. He brought them the cobra this morning and told them TO FIX IT BTW He said it actually Lost even more boost recently and now hardly shows any movement of guage or power (but according to Ford, thats normal) I hate these B/S artist at the dealerships that treat people like a-holes $@#*@#$(@#$(@#@$ They should be stoned to death by former Customers FOR BEING EXCESSIVE A$$HOLES :lol: I'll keep you informed |
Yeah it hurts when you spend hard earned money at a business and then they flat out lie to you. Or in some way try to dis-count your concerns.

Ask them to go for a drive with you in another cobra. See what it does. If they won't, then they are not working for you. Take it to another dealer.

My dealer in town sucks, however the service manager and most of the crew are pretty good. I did ask them to check out my cc last week and they said it was normal. If normal is engaging the cc and waiting two to three seconds and then the thing kicks in like after burners, well I guess it would be normal then. |

It is the Dealer playing games here NOT FORD Only 4lbs of Boost is normal on a S/C Cobra :rolleyes: YA RIGHT...... Sorry if it sounds like I put the blame where it DIDN'T BELONG, It was the Dealership telling him this B/S. I talk to him pretty much every day, I'll let you know how he made out |

Tom just called in an order, (he has an account here where I work) so I asked him if he heard anything ? YES HE DID
He said he just stopped down to the dealership and they have the entire dash board out of the car, HE FREAKED OUT, the Cobra still only has 3 hundred and something miles on it yet :eek: Of what LITTLE they're telling him, they claim it's JUST A BAD GUAGE, mean while they wen't on to tell him they have to order a complete instument cluster and replace the entire unit as one ? Number one does any of this make sence to you ??? and number two, this doesn't explain the lack of performance ??? I asked him again about the performance and he is VERY disappointed and claims it's not that impressive at all. He's pissed but has enough patience to wait it out and see what happens when he gets it back??? |
first they deny problem, now they took the dash apart to replace the guages? what he needs to do is go to a different dealership.

Hpefully it has more than just this one problem. Keep track of all of the days it is at the dealer being repaired. Maybe after being at the dealer too long he can use a lemon law or something.

Is it possible that the guage was defective in a way that Vacuum (hence Boost) was leaking out in the dash to the point it would effect (or should I say create the lack of performance) ? I guess if it's mechanical and the guage was cracked, leaking, etc... it could create a prob ??? I'm just guessing here of course. But like Crued just said, 1st they tell him no boost is normal, then they rip the entire dash out ???? Ones got to assume once he dumped the car back in their lap and said FIX IT, they must have tried a diff guage hooked up somewhere else on the Motor and saw proper Vacuum, which may have lead to them into the interior and ripping the dash out ??? The fact that they have to order and change the entire cluster must tell us they found something wrong in there, (or they're just pulling the normal process of elimination cause they don't know what it is ??? ) :confused: I talk to him daily, I'll let you know what and when I find out ? Find a new dealer.
Complain on the dealer floor as you leave. As for the guage cluster, I can't see that causing a problem if there was a leak in the boost guage line, well at least the problem you describe. If I disconnect the boost guage hose or put a crack in it on my GTI, the guage will read correctly, but the car will not loose all of it's boost, maybe a little but not all. |
When all is said and done Rob...let us know what 'dealer' to stay away from. :thumbsup:

Yeah, seems like especially with SVT dealers that Ford would have quite a bit of control.
