Are the Yankee's Serious?

What are they trying to do, take over the game of baseball? They were already a real good team and that is not giving them enough credit. They had Derek Jeeter, Jason Giambi, Kenny Lofton, Hideki Matsui, Ruban Sierra, Jorge Pasada, Bernie Williams, Mariono Rivera...

And now they have Gary Shefield, and Arod??? What's up with that? How are the Yankees allowed AROD? They don't need him, they are going to just diminate next year, it isnt even going to be funny. On a side note, the cubbies got Maddux back. Should be a good year for the cubs.
What do you think about the Yank's having a monopoly of baseball? So much for the sallery cap!

From a totally unbiased Red Sox diehard...The Yankees F'n SUCK!

Baseball needs a hard salary cap. Get rid of this luxury tax, and make all teams have to spend a minimum on salary and cannot go over a certain limit. But the Players Association will never allow that.

Football has the perfect system, players make their millions and owners have control of the sport.

I love baseball more than any other sport, but if this keeps up, Yankees and Red Sox getting and buying who ever they want, the sport is doomed!

Steinbrenner had no choice.
The ALCS came down to the 13th inning of Game 7.

Don't worry, the Sox still have a good team. I predict they are good enough to go all the way to the 15th or 17th inning of Game 7.

Every year the Yanks are favored. Their pitching is questionable.
Their 2nd stringers rot - so when they have injuries it hurts twice as much. Sure they've gone to the W.S. more than anyone else - they should. But in the end, you gotta produce. Like say, oh, the Marlins did when they beat the Yanks. Or, um, like the D'Backs did 2 yrs before that when they beat the Yanks. 162 games is a long season.

No matter how many players the yanks get, they never get any better :D

The Mariners however get along fine with many billions less than the yanks, GO M's!

I agree that there needs to be a team salary cap in baseball. I heard that the Yankees have a higher payroll than 4 other teams do combined. I guess this is because I don't like the Yankees, but they really are not that good of a team. Yes they have been to World Series more than any other team, but lately they cannot get the job done. With their payroll and the players they have now, they should be able to easily win 100 games.

I just do not like the Ney York Yankees and never will. Now if we were back in the really old Yankee teams, then I would like them.

I absolutely agree with the need for a salary cap in baseball. The game has gotten totally out of control.

In regards to the Yanks though, try and remember one of the most important angles to winning games, pitching. The Rangers paid $25MM for A-rod and he beat the ball to death, but the Rangers had trouble trying to make it out of their division let alone making it to the Series. The Yanks will have big offense next year, but you win more games with pitching than you do with hitting. That's a fact. Let's see, Clemens is gone, Petit is questionable, Wells runs totally hot and cold, and what else do they have for starters. With the exception of Mariano Riviera (Sp ?) their bullpin needs some serious work too. The Yanks will most probably go to the Series once again, but it will be very interesting to see if they can go the distance and win it all.

Hahaha, just like the NHL's NY Rangers.. The league's highest payroll over the last few years, and they haven't even made the playoffs during that time. :p Must be a New York thing...

There are no questions about it, Pettit is now pitching with Clemens in Houston. :D

I agree that this is getting a bit out of hand though. NYY are gonna have hands-down the greatest offense the game has ever seen. But like everyone said, pitching wins you more games than offense does. We'll just have to wait and see what happens.

I'm from Chi-town and have been a die hard Cubs fan for 20 years. Needless to say, I think we've got a great shot at making the series this year. Our pitching won't be a problem, we're just gonna need some consistant offense out of guys like Alex Gonzalez, Aramis Ramirez, and the newly aquired Todd Walker. Hopefully Sosa and Derek Lee can put up some big numbers this year as well.

:lurk:

Yeah Wells is gone. What bothers me is on Sports Center they interviewd Arod and they asked him if the trade was good for baseball. And he said it's good for the Yankee's. No kidding it's good for the yankees...
 Shane

Damn.... I gotta spend some more time weekly watching SportCenter. I thought the Yanks pitching was poor, but I had no idea. Thanks guys for the clarification.
