Off Topic help

Hi all,

My wife and I are sponsoring an 8 year old boy through the Salvation Army. We need to find a Christmas gift for him. Unfortunately we don't have any kids yet and don't know what to get.

We would appreciate any ideas you can offer (besides getting him a new F150, that's on my list).

Thanks

Uhmm, depends on what he's into. Money always works for kids that age, but a sponsered one, mmmm, dunno. We got a Dart board (electronic $24 at Target) a couple weeks ago and my 5 year old loves it. He's not big enough to throw the official distance yet, but he has fun just the same. Posablities are kinda endless with an 8 year old. If he's into sports that might be a good thing. A new baseball glove or something always rocks.

My 9 year old likes remote control vehicles. You can get an f-150 at Radio Shack. His favorite is one that flips over and keeps running, the wheels are large enough that it keeps going even when upsidedown. Can't remember the name, but I think we got it at Toys-r-us. Any toy place, or target or Wally World will have them.

Be sure to get batteries if it's not the type with a recharger unit.

other thoughts:
soccerball
basketball
bike
yu-gi-oh cards (not sure about the spelling)
NFL jersey
BMX jersey
hockey sticks
Plastic basketball goal (and nerf basketball) to hang on the back of a door.
bike helmet
roller blades

I hear tickle me Elmo is big with the kids. Hmm Or was that last year?

You can always go to the toy store and see what all the other parents are buying

I wont be having kids for another few years so I am out of the loop when it comes to kids toys. Sorry

The paper that we got said he liked "toy trucks and *****".

My wife wants to get clothes. But I think I'll get hime some kind a RC truck or something in addition.

An RC F150 sounds great.

My wife and I had a similar conflict. We get the names of 1 boy and 1 girl, the cards list the clothing sizes, and nothing else.
For the boy, I stuffed(I really pack-um up!!) the pockets(and shoes) with matchbox cars, jets, a inexpensive watch, and books in the folds of the clothes. If local, gift cert. for a resturant, ice cream store, Mc Donalds, in the pant legs or sleeves. A buck here and there as well.

Great ideas jstang. I think I'll load up the pockets as well.

I picked up a RC SVT Mustang this weekend. I bought the rechargable battery and charger to go with it. I'm having problems just not opening it up!

GREAT!! You just showed RP what he's getting for christmas.

RP please quit submitting your name to the Salvation Army. You are NOT a needy kid.
