my F150 repo'd

Not even 60 days past due and the first time they tried. I told them I would me making 2 payments on Nov 3rd. Then after 4 days and me explaining I have no money til the 3rd when I get my ssi check, I'll do it over the phone. My grandmother is in the nursing home recovering from a stroke and I told Ford Credit that I need this truck to go back 'n forth. Can't you wait til the 3rd?

Rotten bastards sent the tow truck out and they took it. I'll be able to get it back come monday or Tuesday but I'll be about $300.00 overdrawn. Getting help from an uncle but in Dec. my Gray Davis registration fees are now at a $480.00. If someone is rich and can help me between $300.00-$500.00 I should be able to pay you back. Our family montly income is around $1,800. It's Just me and my grandmother. I got behind because of my fishing boat repairs that I decided to do and though I would never have them act like they did.

I also have around $500.00 worth of good bass fishing gear I can sell. I know I'm nuts for this, but getting my 4x4 back is going to make me feel like I'm on top of the world.:bows:

Sorry to hear about your misfortune, but I am a bit confused with the above statement. Are you saying that you got behind (couldn’t make the payment on your truck) because you decided to repair your fishing boat?

When you state ”and thought I would never have them act like they did” do you mean as in Ford coming to repo your truck because you decided to “not” make 2 truck payments in order to repair your fishing boat?

Did you know, usually, if you call Ford Motor Credit in advance that they will let you miss a payment if you have a good reason? Not sure of all the circumstances for Ford letting you miss a payment but you just have to call and talk with them BEFORE hand.

Hopefully, you met something else, but if you really intentionally missed 2 payments to repair a boat that will never get you back and forth to where you need to go, and never called Ford who extended you the cash in the first place for theirs and your truck….

Well, that would just be absolutely stupid…

Best bet is if you need the cash you already have it, SALE the boat…

Looks like everyone is keying on the same thing. Sell the boat, dude. Live within your means.

Agreed....

Not to flame but, it's people that take this attitude with financial situations that punish those of us that take interest rates, financing, and paying on time very very very seriously.

I understand that people come onto hard times off and on but, the financially motivated will find a way to survive and, in order to survive, they may sell items that they already have as assets rather than expect someone to understand why they aren't paying for something that they simply don't own.

I, for one, have ZERO compassion for someone who cannot live within their means and expects someone to hand them something on a silver platter for free because of a problem that they had in their lives. I don't wish harm or pain on anyone but, there comes a time when someone has to belly up to the bar and admit that THEY are at fault for something like this happening.

In retrospect, I, too, have debts to be paid. I own about 3/4 of my truck and VERY VERY VERY little of my house (considering that I bought it about 3 months ago) but, I have a plan. I know what it takes coming in the door to pay my bills and I know how much is going out the door to make sure that I am in a good financial situation. I don't cut myself too thin and know when to back off of something. Having the will power to say 'no, I can't afford this' and walk away is a very important lesson to have been learned earlier in life.

I'm not knocking someone for not having the financial freedom, I'm simply knocking the lifestyle that some choose to live even though they are far from able to afford that lifestyle. Again, it's people like that who punish the rest of us who take our financial liabilities VERY seriously and make payments on time. Sorry, I don't have time for people like that.

Are we missing something here? Is the boat used for some type of income to be generated on the bay or is it just pleasure?

If just pleasure, why would you expect Ford to just wait for their money instead of you not waiting to fix your boat? You're the one that set your priority of what was more important...

:fyi:

I called Ford Credit to tell them I wouldn't be able to make a truck payment as I was buying some slicks in order to run the chit out of the truck one weekend. They said fine (?), and they just noted my account, go figure!

hmustang Nov 2, 2003 04:29 PM

Hey dude you need to sell that boat.

They must have done that under the Ford Program titled “Gator 10’s”…

I called when my mom had a major heart attack in Nov. of 2001. Wanted to make sure I didn’t miss the payment when I went out to Calif. Ford said no problem…

I have to agree with everyone on this. You need to live within your means. If there is a whole family living off of 1800 a month, then I would have to say a 99 f150 is going to be too big of a payment. As far as the registration fees, it is part of ownership. I bought an older truck, it gets about 9-10 mpg, I have to drive over 40 miles per day. It was eating me out of house and home. It was cheeper for me to find a beater car ($500 escort) and drive it, I still had the truck but I had to find a better way then what I was doing. It turned out that in roughly 90 days the car was paid off and I was ahead on the truck payment. I'm not saying that you need to buy a second car, but mabey sell the boat, fishing gear. Or mabey trade the truck in on something you could afford better. Just a thought.

Your Grandmother is in the hospital, and you are whining about a Truck that you didn't even care enough about to pay for?

Hell, if I could afford $500 just for "good bass fishing gear" let alone a boat, I would feel like I was on top of the world too!
Grow up, and quit counting your Grandmothers (limited) income in with your own. You said it's just the two of you bringing in $1,800, so I'd guess you need to get off your ass and make some more money. I make a little more than that and 3 of us have to live on it!

As far as calling Ford Credit "Rotten bastards" I got your rotten bastards - they live down the street from me. They burned my garage and it's contents down to the ground, plus part of the house. Instead of waiting for a hand out, I have been working on my house all summer long. Because I had to stay somewhere else, and eat out a lot, I got behind on some bills, but NEVER my Truck or house payments!
