Omigod!!! I'm American!!!!
heres the background. I was adopted as an infant. Recently I found both of my birth sisters. My birth mother is deceased. Today I talk to a birth aunt for the first time and she gives me a family history that my sisters didnt know.
I always assumed I was Canadian. Wrong. Great-Great Grandfather was a Confederate Colonel that fled to Canada after the Union won the war (I would imagine to escape prosecution and prison for being a traitor... Union judges you know) So now I know why Im drawn to trucks. Its inthe genes. I'm officially a southerner so I can now make fun of hicks and rednecks because I am one! |
Congradulations, son. Can you get Moon Pies and RC cola up there?
|
no. and nowhere to find grits!
And surprisingly, I actually like grits. Whenever I drive to FLA I have to eat grits (although I hear this is a stereotype and most people hate them) I used to laugh at Jeff Foxworthy.. now I think he's a blasphemer! |
Trust this Yankee on this.
Tell them to keep their RC Cola, that sh*t is nasty. :D |
so if I can prove my geneology, what are the odds of getting citizenship? Being 5 generations after the fact?

Im now changing my profile!
I'm going to embrace this news. |
|

Here's a song you can listen to if you like Country/Southern Rock Alabama - When it all goes South |

I too was adopted and just a few weeks ago tracked down my biological parents. My mother is English and it turns out that my father is from North Carolina. Hmmmm. Turns out that there were lots of horny airmen stationed in the UK over 40 years ago, ha ha. Anyway, my wife says that explains a lot especially watching NASCAR and terrorising people in tiny cars over here with my pick-up. That genetic thing must be true. Good luck with your new family. I can completely relate to what you are going through emotionally. |
At least you guys know who you're related too, my parents claim they found me in a basket floating down a river.
:o |
Congrats on being a Southerner!
|
the best part of this is that I don't feel that it's a good or a bad thing.
It's a different kind of feeling... like in a fun exciting way! Jeez, I could just imagine the shock and disappointment if I found out I was actually a Quebecker! Damn those French! Thanks for the support guys. Much appreciated! |
J-150,
Welcome brother... |
