I CANNOT find an F150 single cab 4x4, 5.4L. Did they make them?

I've looked everywhere, even user's rides here, and I can't find a 1997-1999 F150 4x4 regular cab with the 5.4L engine. Does this exist???? Everything I find is extended cab or has the 4.6L. How can I look up the production line for those years?

Hmm...I believe they made them, had to be XLT though. XL's are 4.2's or 4.6's

Someone would have to have ordered one built.
There could be an XL with a 5.4L
The Six was standard.
The 4.6L was $540.
The 5.4L was $1105.

The 5.4L would also force the $840 Automatic option.

You just aren't going to find someone putting $1945 worth of options in a basic (XL) truck.

(Although I almost did it.)

If I remember correctly there were shortages in the 5.4 the first couple of years. I remember that a 5.4 in the extended cab was hard to find at my dealership. A 5.4 in regular cab was indeed a rare breed.

Good luck on your search.

Yeah, they were pretty rare, you'll just have to do some local searching, also, here are some sites to help in your quest:

www.traderonline.com

www.carsdirect.com

www.auto-rv.com

and of course, even www.ebay.com will have some

Most definitely ,

Financed mine right off the dealer lot back in Dec. of '99.

There were quite a few that they were still trying to sell at the time. Worked out well for my negotiations.

I did have to sign a disclaimer that I would be in the secret 5.4 reg. cab owner's club, but what did I know?

Good luck with your search

Actually, it's down to six now.

Larry was killed in a freak bobsledding accident, but I think his wife is trying to sell his reg. cab 5.4 4X4

Thumbs up You can add another...

I have the 5.4 in regular cab form(see sig). I absolutely love this truck. I have not seen another one of this configuration in my area yet. Makes me feel that it is rare. Although it did cost a bit to get the 5.4 and then HAVE to pay for the auto tranny. Does anyone know where to get the build numbers for this configuration?

Yup, they made them because I had one. A 1999 Regular Cab / Short Box, XLT, ORP, 5.4 Automatic with Limited Slip and the Trailer Package. Went like stink and drank gas to match. I loved it though. Sold it with 59,000 on the clock after 3 years and bought the same truck (except for a 4.6) in a 2002. Better mileage, tons less power and it sits lower. Oh well...

Question

I DO NOT understand why people on here keep on saying how bad the gas mileage is on the 5.4 compared to the 4.6. The truck before my current truck was the same configuration except with the 4.6 and 5-speed. The 4.6 in my previous truck used as much or maybe MORE gas than my 5.4. Am I going crazy or did the previous truck possibly have a problem or something?? My 5.4 consistently gets 16.5 mpg, city and highway mixed driving.

There is one a Jim vreeland Ford in Buelton, CA.

I was looking yesterday on Autotrader.com

18K with around 30K mileage.

Couldn't believe it myself. You could probably get it for less.(If I don't drive there myself, and if it's still there).
