Tire Pressure Monitoring System TPMS

I have a 2009 F150 2WD STX. I have just purchased some new tires for truck and they do not have the TPMS installed in them. From what I was told I can have the ones taken from my original factory tires and get them installed on the new tires but I am not really all that worried about this feature. Is there anyway to disable it so I do not get the dashboard light and error message of low tire pressure on my message center? Thanks for any help you all can provide. This is a great forum.

No there is no way to disable it. Feds do not allow it, so no way to do it. All you need to move them to the new wheels is get a set of the valve stems that the sensors are attached to. They can then be attached in the new wheel/tir.

If I do that or have the original ones removed from my original tires does this require busting the tires off the rims to install the sensors?

Another dumb question but if TPMS monitor is transfered from original tires to the new tires is it somehow programmed with the new required air pressure for the new tires if it is different? How does the sensors know of the new air pressure requirement? Sorry for being a newbie.

It is not so much of a value as if pressure drops a percentage. There is a pressure that will set the light, but I believe its is the same for all tires available on the 150.

They changed them in 09, including how they are mounted. Pre 09 sensors were limited to a max of 50 psi, even had it marked on the sensor. 09 ups are not.
