A/C on all the time
A/C on all the time
My A/C seems to be on all the time. When I set the **** to panel/floor and to cold the air coming through the dash is colder then outside. Could it be just the switch is shorted or is there something else that controls the A/C? This is on a 98 f-150 4.6L.

A/C compressor is active in all dial setting except; off, floor only and vent only. The strategy for all the other settings allows the A/C compressor to cycle. This would provide cold air when the temp setting is in the blue region and warm dehumidified air in the red region. Ford only provides the dial setting with the A/C symbol because that is what most people recognize.
Thanks, I just read my owners manual and figured out how the system is supposed to work. It has been awhile since I have driven/owed a ford product, and I have forgotten how poor the logic behind the climate control is on ford vehicles. Why can't they just give me a button to turn on the A/C and one to select fresh/recirculate!
