Factory Brake Controller stuck on Max Gain

Hello all, This is my first post, it is about a 2011 F-250 FX4 6.2L gas 126K miles.

The factory integrated brake controller worked fine one trip, on the next trip it became stuck at Max TBC Gain 10.0 both with and without the trailer connected, it will not adjust lower.

The symptoms are:
1.) With trailer connected or disconnected it stays at 10,
2.) Pressing + prompts instrument cluster to display TBC GAIN = 10.0 and NO TRAILER (the trailer is disconnected),
3.) Pressing - does nothing
4.) The + button feels perfect,
5.) The - button feels slightly off/different mechanically,
6.) Manual application by squeezing the levers stops the truck and trailer, and
7.) It feels like the trailer brakes are working; however, I did not try locking them up.

Any input or ideas toward diagnosis is appreciated, thank you!!!

Have you disconnected the battery to reset the computer? Dunno if it will make any difference, but it's free and will either work or not?

Good luck!

Would any members with an 11-16 F-250 be willing to press both the - and + buttons on their truck, truck running, in park without a trailer connected and advise what their instrument cluster reads? Particularly if the - button reads anything on the cluster, my - does nothing when pushed. Thank you!

Replacing the factory in dash brake controller with a new OEM unit solved the problem. The old one had a cracked circuit board that would flex when pressing the - button, causing the switch behind the button to remain open.

Good to know.

You should fix the new on you put one so it doesn't happen again. Unless it's a revised part, and the factory fixed it.
