99 f250

Hello I'm looking at 99 F-250 4x4 with a 6.8l engine with 195,268 miles. they are asking $6,800 for it at the dealer ship do you think it would be a good deal? I'm thinking about trading my truck for it and it haves 180,000 miles on it and would my hid headlights fit in it from my truck?

Private party blue book on it is $5300, so the dealer price on it isn't that bad.

However, that is a LOT of miles, and that V-10 gets awful gas mileage - with that lift and big tires you will be lucky if you ever see 10 mpg.

If I get it I'm using it tow a 1964 Mercury Monterey that my grandma is giving me and it weighs the same amount as my truck

It would be a great tow vehicle, but I'd recommend you take that lift kit out and put stock wheels and tires back on it.

The V10 is a great engine, I had a F250 and it was a hell of a towing rig.. But i totally agree with glc, The fuel mileage will totally suck with the big tires and lift on it.

Mine was a stock crewcab with the 5 speed and it got around 13 to 14mpg empty and 10mpg pulling our 30' 5th wheel travel trailer.

I paid 4k for mine with 130k miles and it was a 1 owner in great shape

I know the v10 engines are good for towing. and with the lift and tires towing will be bad on gas. if I pulled a car hauling trailer with a car on it. do you think the gas millage will still be bad?

Running empty i bet that truck gets around 9mpg.. Put a car trailer on it and bet it will be closer to 7mpg.. Towing/big engine/big tires/lift equal crap fuel mileage. Plus extra strain on the transmission and rearend thanks to the big tires plus almost 200k miles.. I would honestly keep looking.

Keep looking - or, as I said, if you buy it get rid of the lift and big tires.
