2012 F250 opinion
My youngest daughter and her husband just bought a 2012 250 Lariat 4x4 with the 6.7. 24K miles and the truck look's new. He traded in his Z71 Chebby and a '09 Harley Rocker to get this truck. Question is would it be worth it to do any mod's to the engine while in warranty that would void emissions or basic engine warranty. I say leave it alone because all they pull with any weight is a 8K pound 30ft travel trailer. He's being advised to chip it and eliminate the urea pipe exhaust. Truck is so quiet compared to the old 6.9 and 7.3's I'd hate to see them screw that up plus they need to keep it a long time.

I would leave it alone.

dont touch it.

I haven't been following the 6.7L's real close as I'll prolly never buy one since they are all automatics, but EGR/Cat/DPF deletes are pretty much a requirement for the 6.4L if you want to keep the truck forever. Emissions just castrate these motors and put a tremendous heat load on the top end. 10 years from now you will not see stock 6.4L on the road still running.

Thank's for the info guy's...I think they'll leave it alone for awhile!

Let me qualify my statement - leave it alone till the warranty is up. Then make a decision.
Make sure they know to go to a truck stop that has bulk DEF (urea) at the pumps instead of buying it in jugs. That will save them considerably. |

Finally getting to post a pic of my daughter and son in law's 250. They've already put over 4K miles on it and love it so far...bought it with 24K and now have over 28K. I'm surprised how quiet this engine is and how nice it rides on the highway while getting 19mpg!Attachment 9893

Shes a beaut
Why wouldn't you get rid of all the emission stuff on the pipe and put a straight pipe in there? Then they don't have to fill with fluid Don't know if that will void the warranty as it is after everything and as long as they are not running a hot tune wouldn't that not void the warranty? The only issue with that would be the green police or the DOT |
