Mixedbreed's 05 F350 upgrade thread

ok so the truck has been great for the last 30k miles, but over the last few weeks the squeal from the turbo is getting worse.. found out the bearing is slowly going out... this means one thing...

Upgrade time!!!

just ordered the Garret Powermax turbo, have some garage time scheduled all of next week for the head studs, gaskets, head work, egr "stuff" and torque converter replacement. there are a few things i am forgetting but i will post them up..

as the truck stood in stock form, it ran consistent 14.8's in the 1/4 weighting 8000 pounds. we shall see what it does after this stuff and a new tune. i will keep you updated..

Have you ever driven a tuned f250/350? how they pull is ridiculous w/ a proper tune.

just with a tune i was as fast as a mustang gt, could out run a f150 supercharged harley, and could still tow 10k lbs w/ just the change of a tune.

No, and a truck (for the same amount of money) cannot beat a car. However, I think I see your point, you are multi-tasking to save some cash. Be wary of that 6.0, have a big bank account for back-up.

Got to wait a little for injectors. Between the bike and my new to me quad I bought, the toy fund will be damn near empty after this money on the truck is spent. I could swing the meth kit now I think... i just need to get it all on paper.

I do have to get with a tuner to get a tune wrote for the truck.

oh and a big chunk of the budget is going into the trans. need to be able to handle the power on the track and I want to beef it up before I get nuts with the engine.
