But it is still a gasser.

I'll forever keep my 7.3L, and sooner than later ditch the DPF on the 6.4L. It seems to be regenin' more now and my mileage is down to 15 instead of 20.

..more like postponed is what it sounds like to me. Ford is NOT stupid! They will see how their precious Ecoboost sales do and go from there, all the mean while more R&D with the 4.4L Diesel fine tuning things. (Remember, FORD didn't take a dime from the Federal Govt!!). Ford will jump in when the timing is right. It may be after sales weren't what were expected with he Ecoboost OR...my personal feeling is they will HAVE to cause other manufactuers will jump into the market with a light duty diesel! 3.8-4.5L Cummings!!! Sign me up...only problem is it has a dodge wrapped around it!!! LOL Ford engineered 4.4L in a F150...I'm sooooo there! It will happen....now its just time to get the , sit back and watch.---DirtySCREW

Ford is in fact building the 4.4 diesel in the same Mexican plant that builds the 6.7 - but is selling all they make to Land Rover.

This is a shame! I did not know this. ..ok...here's my rant..

Why do "American" car companies build their products in other countries other than USA?? And the "foreign" companies build plants HERE and employ AMERICANS!!! My wife's Toyota..built in Mississippi!! Kia just built a plant in Alabama I believe for its Sorento SUV. ..and they "wonder" why people don't want to buy "american" cars....ok off soapbox---DirtySCREW

Very simple - operating costs, especially labor, are substantially less in Mexico and NAFTA protects them from having to pay import duties. The Asian companies are building factories here to avoid import duties.

But it kinda defeats the purpose of buying an American car!! Are you REALLY buying an american car or just purchasing one that's owned by americans but built by whomever? Do you really own a foreign car, or one that's owned by Germans/Japanese/S.Koreans but it's built in the USA by americans?? I see a lot of $^% talking about Tundras & Titans on the Ford and Chevy forums. They might want to rethink their thought process when Toyota is the one that is employing your Uncle or other family member that can put food on the table when Ford/Chevy/Dodge aka BIG 3 are selling us out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I don't know about you but I look for MADE IN USA products and don't mine paying a few extra dollars for them!!! Maybe that's just me...cause I LOVE America!-----------DirtySCREW

Everything these days is a "world" vehicle. Nothing has all domestic content. My truck was assembled in Canada with parts from all over the world.

I'm definitely doubting it's ever going to happen now, for the half tons. Depressing, - I'm a fan for sure.

The project got ditched when teh economy went down the tube, I'm waiting for some word on it since ford seems to be in a pretty good position as of right now and all the strides they are making. It's a cool posibility anyway.

You can bet Ford will relight the project when someone else comes out with a small diesel in a 1/2 ton truck in the US. Doesn't GM have a V-6 Dirtymax in development?

+1...and yes....from my sources (Motor Trend/ truck trend/ various websites) Gm & Dodge were in a "race" to be the first to market with a small diesel in a 1500 series truck! Ford was working on their 4.4L as well. If Ford has the 4.4L complete and is putting them in Land Rovers, then it's just a assembly line change for it to go in the F150! man i want one!---DirtySCREW

F150 Diesel

Regardless of the ecoboost, the finance manager @ a local Ford company said the diesel is soon to come....not that you can just trust any sales person or finance guy....he's set to call me when they come in for a trade up. By that I think they are coming in....why wouldn't he just try to get me in on another truck?? And I know they wouldn't walk away from a sale....my personal opinion and I cant wait.

The latest I can find was CUMMINS was putting a small diesel in a Nissan Titan. They were testing with it. Toyota was suppose to have a diesel in the Tundra...haven't heard a peep on it. Haven't heard a thing from Ford other than speculation that the F150 diesel has been shelved because of the ALL MIGHTY ECO-Boost! I call BS on the Eco-boost. Look at fuelly.com and check out gas mileages. No better than V-8s!
Haven't heard anything from the General either on a small Duramax in the Silverado/Sierra 1500.

If/when they ever do I don;t know if it would be cost feasible due to the higher engine cost.
Still would like to see them come out.
