If you are worried about mileage I wouldn't look at a V-10 they are great engine but if you aren't going to use it tow or haul anything there are some cheaper routes to go instead of buying a bigger truck that wont get the mileage an F150 will. If it were me I would look at getting some custom tunes for your truck and maybe a re-gear. To answer your question from what I have seen you will get 12-14 empty depending on how you drive it and you will be in the single digits when towing.

Trying to find a well optioned truck with a manual is going to hard to say the least if that's what you are looking for because most of the time those are going to be found in XL work trucks with limited to no options. I guess I have a silly question why you need a truck with such a large engine and appetite for fuel if you don't tow or haul anything? I had an 04 F150 FX4 SCAB with the 5.4 and it was plenty for me empty and it never even broke a sweat hauling 1600lbs of nails and that tackling some good hills. The only reason I jumped to my F350 PSD is because I didn't have enough tow capacity for a 5er.

why not a diesel?
if you do not tow or haul i would just keep your f150. a tune will not ruin the reliability of your motor or drivetrain if the tune is written correctly. keep up maintenance and as long as you dont abuse your truck 250k is a good possibility. there is no reason the f150 wont last 250k.

Its not just the power, I also like the solid front axle and conventional steering which is more capable off road. I test drove a V10 auto with 4.10 gears this past Sat, and it has much more power than my F150 up hill. I will look into a tuner, but still am leaning for a super duty.

2010 is last year for this motor, and I don't want to loose out on a possibly great motor.
