08 6.4 block heater
I read ALL 6.4's have a block heater, but some not built in the cold states just did not come with the power cord.
Where is the block heater located? Where is best pace to buy the cord? ?$?$? |
I read about a year ago that the best place to buy the cord was at your local International dealer. I also read that the plug is on the bottom of the engine somewhere and that installing the cord is really difficult. I looked for the thread before posting this and could not find it. It was somewhere on powerstroke.org or dieselstop.com. I had looked into doing it and found that it wasn't worth the trouble for me, since I live south of the Mason Dixon line.

The cord for my 7.3 was $50 and it plugged in right above the oil filter. It was a pain in the ass to run, but not that difficult.

It's on the bottom. 7.3s use a spin on style filter, not a cartridge filter like the 6.0 and 6.4s.

cord and installation @ dealer- $83

The block heater is located on the passenger side of the the block. Towards the rear. Look straight above the starter. I actuallly work on the engine line that builds Super Duty's. It shouldn't be too hard to install yourself. And you are correct, all 6.4's have block heaters but they don't all come with the plug.
