2008 F250 6.8L V10 gas mileage

OK...The 08 V10 3V motor is the same as offered in the 05~07. There have been many threads on this issue with this engine.
For what it's worth... Here's my input -
My 06 F250 Super Cab, Lariat, 8' Bed, 4:30 LS gets about 10~11 city and about 12 ~13 hwy. I'm in the flatlands on Michigan. Of course I did not care about mileage when buying my truck! If so I would have bought a Toyota...which can't haul as much so go figure. Even if my truck only got 7mpg I'd still love it
Hope this helps....

sure does, I did not buy mine for mileage either, but I have read so many variations. I upgraded from a F150 5.4, WOW! What a difference, this motor is so much smother and way more power! I love it! And the 150 only gets 13-14.5 in town, and 16-18 high way, small price for so much more power!
Thanks!
Thanks!

10.0 MPG, this is at about 80-90% stop and go heavy traffic in town driving, and the truck only has just over 1000 miles so she is still pretty tight! I expect that will get a little better, once she loosens up and i get a K&N in. Another factor is I live in PA, lots of hills! There is allot of construction I have to go threw on my way to work, some mornings I don't get over 20mph for 5-6 miles. These trucks were built to be on the open road working!! So I would have to say not to bad, the 5.4 in my F150 only did about 13-13.5 under the same conditions, and it is completely broke in and has a K&N, and EDGE Evo. I can live with it! Drove the F150 5.4 about 50 miles tonight, man I love that V10 6.8, but the 150 definitely rides much better, but then again its not a SUPER DUTY!

If you are getting 12-14 mpg on the highway you are doing pretty good. The best years for the V10 in terms of fuel economy were the first couple years they made it. My brother has a '99 F-250 Supercab Longbed Lariat with a V10 and 4.30 gears. It is bone stock and he runs Motorcraft 5w-20 oil in it and it pulls 16 mpg on the highway.
Of course, as you more up to the newer V10s that are putting out more power the milage typically goes down.
These trucks are so heavy that any kind of stop-and-go driving really kills the milage. It takes a lot of energy to get 6,000+ pounds moving and that is reflect in how much the milage drops in city driving.
