DRCarrillo, nice looking Expy! Pretty low for a 4X4. Here is a few pictures of my wife's Expy, 2X4 lowered on 20" Budnik's w/4 TV's and a host of other custom things. http://content.communities.msn.com/i...&ID_Message=12

Drcarrillo and Roger...
Good work guys. Those look really nice. Drcarrillo is your Magnaflow just their standard Expy dual exhaust, or something you had custom fabbed? Ok, I need the scoop on those monitors!!!! especially the center front and rear seat!
You had to do that to me.... -Adrian |
Roger and WA 2 FST, those are two of the best looking Expeditions I have seen. And the amazing thing is that they belong to your wives'!!! Roger, I may have to swing by your place to take a close look at that truck when I am up in Northern California.
Adrian: With regards to the video screen, there are several companies that make them: Alpine (CVA-1005, IVA-C800), Eclipse (7002, 7301), Clarion (MAX2256, others), and several other companies. I have the Eclipse 7002 which pops out of the dash whenever I want to see the monitor. Roger I think has the Clarion MAX2256, or Eclipse 7301. Anyways Rogers dash monitor seems to be double din that doesn't pop in and out of the dash (I think). However, these usually have a CD player and cassette deck housed behind the screen. Roger also has monitors in the headrests and overhead console. That is exactly what I am planning to do. Again, there are several companies that make these. There are also companies (including audiovox) that make custom overhead consoles to house the monitor. There look pretty damn cool. Here is a pic of my monitor retracted into the dash.. http://www.zing.com/picture/p4d57715...8.jpg.orig.jpg Hope this helps.... |
DRCarrillo,
Have to ask again about your exhaust system. Is it a standard Magnaflow kit with the true duals, or did you have a local shop fabricate it for you. I saw some other pics of your exhaust system in another post, and liked the stainless polished (?) tips and the way they hug the trailer hitch. Looks very neat and clean that way. Just wondering if there is a kit or part # that I could just purchase or ask a local shop about, instead of trying to piece something together. Thx. ------------------ Wes Tarbox 90 LX 5.0 (10.69 @ 134.7)--597rwhp/590rwtq 96 Cobra (12.63 @ 114.5)--390rwhp/441rwtq 99 Lightning (13.20 @ 103.3)--362rwhp/444rwtq 00 Expedition XLT 5.4 http://members.aol.com/Wa2fst/index.html |

FWIW, we have the Audiovox LCD video screen that is a drop-down from the ceiling of the vehicle. It is enclosed in the console. We're very pleased with it. I don't have _as_ high-end A/V as DRCarrillo and Roger do, but I upgraded everything in the Expy (all Alpine stuff) and it was well worth it. The drop-down screen is worth every penny on long trips with the kids. https://www.f150online.com/f150board/smile.gif Just one screen, but being in the center is nice. It's 7" and is not a distraction or obstacle when looking in the rearview mirror. I was worried about this at first, but its high enough that you don't sacrifice rear vision out of the mirror.

WA 2 FST, sorry about not replying earlier. My Magnaflow set up is the standard Magnaflow for the expy. However, they had to custom fabricate the piping in order to get around the hitch. I think the standard Magnaflow is meant for Expys w/o the hitch (don't quote me on this though). Full Effect (which is now out of business!!!) had one of their shops do this for me. I think I still have the paperwork at home on the product number. I will check and post it here if I find it. I am very satisfied with the setup. The sound is perfect: not too loud, but you (and everyone else for that matter) can definetly tell its there. Some noticeable performance gain (however, this may be due to the fact that my foot got a little heavier). As as you said very clean installation. The tips are the Magnaflow polished T-304 stainless steel tips. I will try to get a picture from underneath my Expy so that you can see the piping. Hope this was of some help.
Adrian, thanks for that link to the Expy audio/video installation. The in dash LCD there is the Alpine 1005, a great piece. Hoever, I decided to go with the Eclipse 7002 because of the better picture quality and 5V preout (just my opinion).. |
WA2FST, nice looking Expy! It's the first one I have seen done with the Lightning front end. I put a 2WD front bumper on mine with a set of Piaa lights customized in the bumper. I still need to paint and install the roll pan to complete the truck along with just one more TV in the P/S visor.
Adrian, email me if you would like more information on the monitors, I sell and install them. DRCarillo, let me know when your in the area, it would be a pleasure to meet you and check out your Expy. I also have a pretty nice F-150 truck too! ------------------ Roger Lemere F150online.com Digital Mkt.Place Advisor DBA Lemere Enterprises Roger@F150online.com 916-361-2510 |
Roger,
I will be in Northern Cali in mid September. My girlfriend goes to UC Davis, and I am originally from Stockton so I visit my parents every so often. So hopefully I can swing by and check out those cars of yours. Hell maybe while I am up there you can hook me up with a good deal on some monitors. We'll see. I will keep in touch. Take it easy. |
Wow ! Great Ride Guys!!!
* For everyone who had the video setup how much (if you don't mind) an estimated cost of your setups ex: 3tvs,vcr,dvd,labor? * wa2fst, whered you get the svt bumper setup? looks SWEET!! was planning to do the same but don't know where to get the bumper. did you install it yourself? thnx guys WIl |
blkexpy,
LCD monitor for your dash (controls your entire system: approx $1200-1300 monitors for headrests (depends on manufacturer and size): range from approx. $400-700 (I think). Overhead console w/ LCD monitor: not to sure on this one.. I would say approx. $1000... DVD (alpine or panasonic): approx. $1000-1100. VCR: $200-300 For my particular setup I only have the in dash LCD monitor, in dash cd changer, VCR, TV tuner: approx $3000 w/ installation.. Hope this helps.. I think Roger knows a little more than myself about audio/video electronics though... |

The Lightning front bumper cover and upper grill (the grill and plastic around the headlights is different than a regular Expy) can be ordered through Ford. I don't believe there's an aftermarket manufacturer that has these parts.
It didn't matter, though, b/c while I have no problem getting my hands dirty around motors and drivetrains, I do not do paint/body work. My local dealer did the prep, paint and installation. DRCarrillo is correct with regards to the cost of the drop-down, overhead LCD monitor and VCR. I did not get a DVD player b/c, while I replaced the entire stock stereo, I still used a analog receiver, and the digital signal would have been lost anyway. ------------------ Wes Tarbox 90 LX 5.0 (10.69 @ 134.7)--597rwhp/590rwtq 96 Cobra (12.63 @ 114.5)--390rwhp/441rwtq 99 Lightning (13.20 @ 103.3)--362rwhp/444rwtq 00 Expedition XLT 5.4 http://members.aol.com/Wa2fst/index.html |
