Will 2001 Navigator engine work in a 1999?

As some of you may have read on here, I'm having a bit of bad luck with my engine. Went from tons of oil in my radiator and suspecting a blown head gasket to finding out my cyclinder is cracked.

I have located another engine at a reasonable price, but it is a 2001. Does anyone know of the major differences in these two years. Recently, I swapped a 96 Cobra engine into a 98 Cobra to find out the block and heads were the same, but many of the sensors were different, as well as the oil pans. I needed to swap everything from my 98 block onto the 96 so that my wiring harness would plug in. If this is the case with the 01 Nav to the 99, I will not mind. I'm mostly concerned to make sure the bellhousing, heads, intake, etc. are the same. Does anyone have a parts interchange list to check on this for me?

Thanks in advance!

I would say that it will indeed work. The only thing I would try to do is get the 01 wiring harness and pcm when you get the motor.

The wiring harness and pcm is not available. It has already been sold to someone else. I didn't want to pay to ship this engine across the country unless I'm 100% positive it will work.

Thanks for your help.

Link Craped on me try the second link Shows 6 near you that should match pending you have DOHC.

www.partshotlines.com

I was just stating that if it were me, if I could, I would try to get the pcm and the harness. You might try to ask on the *enging forum* to get better clarity.

If it helps any, the cross reference I did searching for a 99 navi engine, did not list any 01 engines for compatibility. When I searched for the 01 engine, the former 99 models on my previous search however, were not listed. So, as an assumption, (trusting the search from that site) there are some differences that they will not swap. What are them differences you ask? I have no earthly clue.

Sorry I couldn't help more.:smoke:

are you trying to swap from a 2 valve to a 4 valve?

No, I have a DOHC and I am simply trying to find another that runs and does not have a crack in the block.

If I recall, 99 to 01 not much changed. It was '02 maybe??

I believe the new engine is 3 valves per cylinder... if so , no computer, no go

Paradisd 11-29-2008 11:11 AM

2001 is still a 4 valve engine
