Expedition EL owners

Give me some feedback. Looks like we are headed that way around spring or so. We had an 04 EB and loved it, but we like to extra room in the EL.

Any positives and negatives are welcomed.

nice...I love my 2008. Just got back from Texas tonight and I rented a 2011 Expy EL from Enterprise.

the 2011 was nice, but you can tell the difference between the XLT (rental) and my Limited. The Limited is quieter, and has a better ride IMO (tires). The 2011 model did feel more spirited though, and it got a solid 20 MPG on the I-35 at 75 MPH with 8 people + luggage in the back.

For reference, I had 10 pieces of luggage + a stroller in the back of the rental EL. 4 kids were in carseats, and 4 adults. We were pretty comfy for the most part. Damn carseats are huge.

I don't think you can go wrong with the EL. The wife and I won't give ours up. We've been talking about keeping the current one as the "backup" and getting her a 2012 with the 5.0/6.2 motor, whichever shows up.

Thank you for the reply. What kind of MPG are you getting in your 08? We will be going 07-09

can't really use me for reference. this island is 95% at a 35mph speed limit, with about 10-20 miles of highway at 55 mph.

we get a solid 12.5 mpg with almost exclusive city driving and the A/C on front/rear. with the A/C off, I've gotten 15+ mpg easily in the same driving conditions
load wise, there are 6 of us in there at all times. me, wife, 7 yr, twins @ 2 and the baby. so it's carrying a decent load when driven.

the Mustang gets used for piddly trips since it's easier to get in/out of places if we're just grabbing something quick

oh yeah, and I'm told I'm a bit of an aggressive driver. my Expy has been known to chirp the tires when the light turns green. I'm sure that doesn't help any

Gives me an idea though. We have two kids and 3 dogs. This will be our travel vehicle but will tow my Mustang. In town won,t be a large part simply to keep the miles off and $$ on the gas. I,ll get a little Ranger again for my in town driving. We usually buy something a few years old

Well I can tell you I love this truck. I swapped from a Black 2005 limited to a White 2010 limited. The sync system, power rear tailgate, power fold down rear seats, and the retracting door steps are some of the best options. The 6 speed trans takes some getting used to. I don't like the downshifting into first at slow speeds. Gas mileage is better than my 05. We average 15-17 here on our trips back and forth to DC from Va. 20 inch rims with Pirrelli tires make for a smooth quiet ride. Turning radius is about the same but very impressive for a big truck. The only complaint my wife has about driving it is having to park it somewhere. I don't blame Ford for that, it is the small parking spots businesses put in.

The EL without 100k+ miles was still out of our budget. So we went with an 07 EB. LOVE IT
