Can't Do Nothin' to 04 Expy
 

Well a couple months ago I discovered that there is no body lift for 03 and newer Expy's. Only lift I've found thus far is a Daystar 2" for front and rear, which will only allow 33" tires.

Last week I went to a local muffler shop, the best in VA BCH for a SIDO exhaust. They put it on the lift, then came out to the waiting room and said "We have a problem".

Turns out there is no way to put a dual exhaust on the Expy either as there is no room underneath (at least on an 04 Expy 2wd). Had to settle for a SISO Flowmaster 40 series.

The wife is happy with the sound, but disappointed that she couldn't have duals. The good news is the exhaust and a drop in K&N filter caused her gas mileage to increase a little more than 1 mpg.

Thought I'd pass along what I discovered, in case any of y'all were thinkin 'bout duals on your Expy.

Rize Industries is introducing a suspension lift for the new Expy's. There was a feature on it in last months Truckin' Magazine.:thumbsup:

She wanted duals, and still wants to lift, install 35" tires, billet grills, etc. Getting ready to get an Xcalibrator for her.

She ok's anything I want to do to my truck as long as I do to hers as well. So every mod I do costs double. Could be worse eh?

You can do duals...

I have them on mine- The problem is, you have to run them out the right rear, you can't do one on each side (Ala Chevy Tahoe), or you can go with the SIDO...

I went SIDO, and saved the $$ and still got the sound & mildly increase performance.

I saw the vehicle on the lift and the muffler shop (best in my town) said not possible unless we lose the space. Even doing it that way it would look funny. The entire bottom of the vehicle is flat, no way to hide the pipes. There is one channel for the stock exhaust, no room for a second. I put a FM series 40 on it for here, which is loud (too much for my taste) like she likes it. She's satisfied for now . . .

I went back and re-read your thread just to make sure I got it right. You want to lift a 2wd Expy? Why? It's like lowering a 4wd, doesn't really make sense. To each thier own I guess. Good luck.

The wife wants the look of a truck. She doesn't use four wheel drive so I bought her a two wheel drive Expy. We are installing a 2" lift next week and 33" tires. Keeps her happy and she's letting me put 35's on mine.

There are a ton of 4x2 lift kits available for most trucks (only 2 for the new Expy though) so lifting 4x2's make sense to a lot of people.

In fact, as I think about it, MANY people buy and lift 4x4's and NEVER EVER engage the front wheels. The lifted look with bigger tires is a look to some, rather than a means to more ground clearance, similar to the lowered truck look (to use your example). With that in mind, it would be silly to purchase 4wd, which is several thousand more, not to mention the increased maintenance and reduced gas mileage, if you will never use it. Just my opinion. My wife really wanted a 4wd Expy, but after a discussion, we agreed that the right answer was a 2wd as it is a daily driver and the family Mini-van (she would kill me if she knew I called her TRUCK a minivan).

Right. Being from the south, I used to think 4wd was just for use in the mud (hunting, fishing, muddy farm fields, etc). Apparantly a lot of people up north buy 4x4's with no intention of ever going off road. They just need them to travel on the icey/snowy roads.
