Automatic Climate control

I noticed that my A/C compressor will turn on when I have the climate control in the automatic position....even when it's 25 degree outside. It does short 2 second cycles every 30-50 seconds.
Anyone else have this happen?
The A/C works fine when it's warmer, so I know it's not a charge issue.
Why would the A/C be turning on at 25?

In automatic the compresor still runs. It's a good thing. It dries out the interior air by pumping in drier air.

It's a FEATURE. Mine runs at 40 below even though there is zero humidity in the air! I read somewhere that below a certain temp it is not supposed to run but mine does. I keep thinking about disconnecting the compressor in the winter.

BTW, with all the fuel saving strategies that the automakers come up with (too tall gears, trannys that won't downshift, rock hard tires) you think turning off the AC would be good for a 10th or 2).

You would think that the A/C should be off at very low temperatures. No need to dry 20 degree air.
Guess Ford didn't put in a "to cold for A/C on" in the programming of the Automatic control. Those short cycles do nothing to make any difference in drying the air.
