Stock vs. Shorty's

I have been reading a lot here on the benefits of headers. I have a pretty bad gasket leak on my passenger side manifold and need to fix it. I may fix the factory gasket or put on a new set of headers while I am at it.

Is there any benefit to Shorty's compared to stock headers? From what I have read it looks like the only difference is a bit more sound. Is there any torque / hp gain at all? Any testimonials?

The torque curve gets shifted so that you get more down low, but it's minimal. Sound hardly changes at all. Unless you can get a set of shorties for super cheap, I would save up for long tubes.

shorties = almost no gains

go long tubes or go home

I bought shorties, when I do the rebuild I'm going long tubes, and buy good gaskets, more then likely the ones you buy with the headers will suck

how much of a diffrence does long tube headers make over stock manifold on a 5.4

Probably around 20lbs torque.

I'd like to see dyno numbers to back up 20 ft-lbs estimate. I can see 20 ft-lbs with new headers, pipes and muffler. With just the headers, 20 ft-lbs seems like a lot.
