Says who? a single 3" from the Y is quite healthy for gas small block V8s. Not as good as 2.25" true duals but still a bit more of an improvement over stock. Along with a deeper note, the velocity can release more pressure from the restricted OEM Y pipe and allow the dual 2.5" downbanks to merge to a single 3" and it will flow better, and keep torque well, and only enchance it better with a intake and tune

3" bullet is the way to go. Check my signature for vids. I have the 5.4 (real man's motor) EDIT: Just like I thought, no need to be a smartass https://www.f150online.com/forums/4038787-post8.html https://www.f150online.com/forums/4038840-post9.html Both came from this thread. https://www.f150online.com/forums/ex...ed-advice.html |
The 3" will perform fine. Not as great as a 2.25" true dual, but still will be fine. Towing the weight that openclass pulls every bit of torque will matter, but a 3" off the Y pipe with a 2.5" in to 3" out Magnaflow Y pipe will flow fine.

A real mans motor is a Diesel, or a GM 8.1L with the Allison trans

i could use some dynomax bullet advice..
if i were to replace my 40s with bullets would the truck be noticeably quicker or peppier at all? 2.25 true duals with all 4 cats |

I've posted this is TONS of threads. The bullets are great and I have had several different bullet setups. I had the BEST response with the 2.5 inch bullet. There is no reason to run a 3 inch because you are not pushing near enough horsepower to even need one. Sure there will be more flow but you will lose back pressure and low end. 2.5 is plenty trust me. I did come off of flowmaster 40 series and according to my seat of the pant dyno, my truck was WAYY quicker off the line and had better response throughout the powerband. I also did gain maybe 1 or 2 mpgs.
Now for the bad.. I did run a single 3inch bullet with an OR-Y and it sounded absolutely horrible. I lost so much back pressure and even more torque. It popped and I didn't gain any steam still close to 3k.. But having that said from a 60 punch and all the mods I had it would absolutely clue you to the seat. It would scream too, that's actually the only time it did sound good. Stay with the 2.5's you wont regret your decision. You don't even really need to dump it I just left it. |
Sounds great Dinggus. I just love the sound of the bullet. Love the streetlamp in the stock startup video. lol
